Can anyone lend some context to this story. News media reports raise a lot of questions. It has to do with him calling his spotter the "N" word. Is his spotter black? Was it said in jest? Was he angry with his spotter or were they joking around? Trying to figure out if this is really a mountain or a politically correct molehill.

Saw a few headlines that he'd been suspended from the e-sports league for 'using a racial slur'

In this day and age it doesn’t matter why you said it. When sponsors are paying millions of dollars to fund your career you have to be smarter than that.

The video is easy to find. He's trying to get someone's attention and it's said casually with a hard r. Doesn't appear he knew he was broadcasting to everyone.

This. Sponsors are averse to any type of controversy and this is literally the most controversial word going...

Doesn't really matter about the sticks and stones stuff. The PC crowd ran rampant. After all of the sponsors (except one that I can't remember the name of) dropped their contracts, CGR had to drop him. One other possibility would be sponsors were looking for an excuse to get out of a contract they could no longer afford.

Larson is one of the most versatile drivers anywhere. Kurt Busch said some stupid shit that got himself fired twice, so maybe Larson can come back some day.

Got that. Still does not answer my question about the circumstances.

Here's a link with the video of him saying the N word..

Link

He apparently didn't realize it was being broadcast, at that point he was done as a rce car driver. Remember because it doesn't take an offended person to report anyone, just any person(s) that wants to get the news started....

Just like here, there are people that absolutely have to try and be the first one to report something like this. So out it went, twitter, you tube, everywhere...

His ride is paid for by sponsors, big money like Chevrolet and McDonalds. They have a zero tolerance policy, and even if they would like to say, "we support second chances" it's not going to happen, they pulled sponsorship, presumably using a contract clause on ethics or CGR or the driver doing something negative and poof! Money gone, Ride Gone, CGR had no choice, adios.

Basically he let the N word slip and now because of the way things work on the WWW,

He's toast for a while, someone will pick him up down the road, after time, he'sgot too much talent...

It was an iRace, how can you not know that you're broadcasting to everyone. The whole point is to broadcast to everyone

Most online racers use 2 channels...one thru the iRacing server and a private channel using a service like Teamspeak. He pushed the wrong button and broadcasted over the public server.

I don't know but I suspect that word is used a lot in some of the music he listens to. Through the ears to the tip of the tongue. Kyle's a good kid, I hope he's able to rebound from this one day. It will take years and probably a black car owner like Brad Daugherty to get him there.

I saw this article at Road & Track just a bit ago.

As someone who doesn't follow NASCAR, I saw it as a good article on Larson himself.

God bless America.

It is a very good article and sets the stage of where he wants to go from where he's put himself

I'm not aware of any music that uses that word with a hard R. Maybe the neo-nazi music from American History X?

Really? Might want to turn on some rap. That word is every where.

He’s an idiot that deserved what’s happening. If you’re a celebrity or professional athlete or in his case a race car driver that gets paid an ass load of money to do something like that then words like that shouldn’t be in your vocabulary period. He knew better and this dip shit fucked it up, I don’t feel bad for him one bit. When you’re making that kinda money and you’re famous or the public eye is on you then you best cover your ass 24/7 and not do stupid shit period. I don’t care if he thought nobody could hear him, if he’s too dumb to figure this all out then he doesn’t deserve the life style.
