The speed of light is approximately 186,000 miles per second.

It's a fact that no one has ascertained the speed of dark.

If you were on a planet that was over 70 million light years away, you could observe Tyrannosaurus Rex if you had a powerful enough telescope to see Earth's surface.

If you are on a train going the speed of light would you defy the laws of physics by getting up and walking forward down the aisle?

Only if the train is on a treadmill.

- Aussies drink 1.7 billion litres of beer per year, that's about 680 bottles of beer for each adult.

- Australia's former Prime Minister Bob Hawke, set a world record for sculling 2.5 pints of beer in 11 seconds. Hawke later suggested that this was the reason for his great political success.

- There are 60 different types of kangaroo. That's a lot of lean meat.

Australia invented the world's first seat belt law in 1970. Yup, blame the Aussie.

Pffft. That's a world record?

I used to be able to do that standing on my head.

Seagulls can't burp. If they eat an Alka Seltzer, they will explode and fall to the earth.

It is illegal to have Alka Selters on beaches in San Diego county.

No.
The speed if light is always the same within whatever reference frame you measure it in. If the train were going 3/4 the speed of light from *my* perspective, if you were *on* the train, and measured the speed of light from *your* perspective, it would still be 186,000 miles per second.

Resolving this paradox is what led Einstein to develop the theory of Special Relativity. Because the speed of light must *appear* the same regardless of our frames of reference, time and space must distort to make it so.

In the '40s, the average worker earned enough in a week to purchase two acres. A skilled laborer could buy three acres with one weeks pay.

This is not the same today (unless you happen to make $60,000 a week).
