Your driver’s license and state ID cards could soon go digital.

Apple announced Wednesday that Arizona is among a handful of states to be the first to introduce the digital Wallet option to residents. The exact rollout date has not yet been disclosed.

The Wallet feature allows you to securely save your credit cards, insurance cards, event and travel tickets, and other documents to your iPhone and Apple Watch. Apple says it will soon also offer home, apartment, and hotel keys through Wallet. However, it's widening its reach first with driver's licenses and state identification cards.

Select Transportation Security Administration checkpoints will offer lanes at some airports where travelers can use a digital Wallet ID as identification. Those locations have not yet been released.

$5 driver's license too burdensome, $1,200 smartphone, everyone has access to one.... Same with the COVID passport, super easy for minorities, but 2 hours and $5 the DMV nearly impossible.

Turn face ID off. I did. Use, at a minimum, a 6 digit password with 1,000,000 possible combinations. Even better, use an alphanumeric password with Billions of possible combinations and set your phone to erase after 10 failed attempts.

It's just an option not an ultimatum, for now.

Imagine our grandkids kids will live with this and digital currency, it's where we are going, no more money to carry, no banks to go into, no cash sales no printing dollars or minting coins
eliminates huge expenses for governments and digital transactions, your pay check, sales of goods like your motorcycle, car, etc all get recorded, and updated to your tax file.

Have the Apple Card on my phone and use it when buying things on credit ie Gas Pumps, creates a transaction file that hides the CC number so no more skimming...

Used it on several flights with the boarding pass, easy peasy bar code check in..

Our state allows for insurance cards to be digital. License, registration, and insurance is a gigantic pain in the balls.
And what happens when it’s raining on the side of the highway, a semi blows past as you hand your phone/ID out the window and it falls to the ground and breaks?
You’ll get a new phone after months of paperwork, maybe?
