Interesting video on another interesting Marine General.

Old school tactics from the Red Force Leader (Iran in this war game) 41 year service Marine General, Lt. Gen. Paul Van Riper (who served from Vietnam to Desert storm) kicked the Blue Force (US Troops with advanced weapons that weren't expected for 5 more years) so bad the the Blue Force Leaders complained and had the "rules" re-written.

I watched another We Are The Mighty Video on US WWII Ace Pilot who shoot down a US Plane....He supposedly got a medal and the girl for it. Cool

Wow, great story on the pilot who shot down the US aircraft.

Ballsy move and way to take the initiative!

What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

That story has taken on a life of its own since it came out. There's a lot more to it than what's been released and people have theorized on their own what was going on and the results. If it did happen the way it's been portrayed, great. The brass periodically needs to have their nose's bloodied and their sacred cows slain to wake them out of their cushy offices.

This is the same as when the USN leased the Swedish Gotland-class AIP submarine years ago and it allegedly whipped the USN in a variety of exercises. Capable and possible sure, however, without knowing the parameters and perspective, it's all click-bait. The whole point of leasing that particular sub was so the USN can get an understanding and develop tactics on how to counter AIP subs.

It would never happen. Warfare has changed too much since 2002 (not that I think they had a chance then either). We would simply drone the living hell out of them. We’d never even have to go inside Iran’s borders. It’s an exercise and why they call it fictional.

All you'd have to do is to prevent it going home over its usual operational duty time.

They 'Gotts' to eat and fuel-up, right? And our nukes can stay out and under for WAAAAY longer than any conventional sub.

My understanding is AIP subs, while fantastic in shallow water ways (Baltic, Med, straits around Japan, etc), are miserable in the big blue ocean. Not only are they painfully slow (what's the saying among boomers: 3kts to nowhere), their endurance is short hence, just wait them out or, drive them till they surface. Maybe some Bubbleheads can comment.

If we actually invaded Iran it would be 10 times worst than Iraq was.....and since we do not have the political will to actually fight a real war (like unlimited bombing of german and japanese cities) the way it should be we would lose.....
