Just curious what the general opinion is of Tru-Glo products, especially their optics?

Personally I have owned several now, and so far been favorably impressed... considering the price, that is! I mean, we’re not talking EOTech quality here, nor are we paying EOTech prices. But for the bargain prices being paid, the performance that I personally have experienced has been most definitely more than simply acceptable! I have found it quite surprising to say the least!

Their optics are not the only thing I’ve come to like, but their Picatinny risers are now my preference after trying several different brands.

Does anyone else have a similar experience, or am I a loner here?

My only experience is with their Browning Buckmark Fiber Optic front replacement site. I've had it a bunch of years now and it's quality and no complaints.

I have the SIG TFO front sights on both my P320 and my P220-10mm. They make an excellent and easy to pick up front sight.

Their optics seem to be garden variety Chinese stuff. Similar to Primary Arms and Holosun, which is to say they work and are inexpensive.

Not everyone lives on an Aimpoint and/or Trijicon lifestyle. We sell Tru-Glo, Bushnell and Vortex to satisfy that end of the market, and by and large we hear few post-sale complaints about much if any of the Tru-Glo product. Ironically, the most significant gripes have been with Vortex gear with their exemplary warranty coverage, primarily with illumination failures over time. Yes they have their phenomenal warranty which comes to the rescue, but it's become more of a not-too-surprising annoyance to have to send optics back to have them fixed or replaced. People reach an opinopn that these optics must be great if Vortex is going to offer such coverage, but when these optics wind up breaking--despite the excellence of the warranty--their opinions about the actual build quality right out of the box of Vortex optics begin shifting to the negative.

Personally I've had both positive and negative end-user experiences with Vortex. Great that their faulty stuff is covered as well as it is, but it's the fact that it's faulty AT ALL that is the most annoying.

However we've heard none of that with the even lower cost Tru-Glo red dots. Most customers buy in thinking that because the pricing is so low budget, that they view them with lower expectations and often as placeholders until a "better" optic can be afforded. Quite often when they come back in for that 'upgrade', they will say that their cheap Tru-Glo works fine but they want to do better because their $80 Tru-Glo is 'cheap', insinuating if not outright saying that it will go bad sooner than later if only because of its low price. Yet we also hear from customers who buy these units and just continue to use them because the darned things won't break like they thought they would.

I put a cheap truglo red dot on my Browning buckmark a few years ago. Works great. A lot bigger than expensive ones, but that doesn't bother. Of course it is mounted on the frame so it isn't subject to the stress of the slide banging back and forth. I don't shoot it much anymore since I bought a couple of sings with Romeos on them.

The only one I ever had was many years ago and it was like mounting a "59' Cadillac on my gun. Ugly and heavy but it worked.

I've had no issues with TFO or TFX handgun sights or the Truglo TruTec 20mm red dot. I can't say they're my first choice for sights or optics but I consider them a good value, especially when purchased on sale.

I put their light pipe front sight on my shotgun a few years ago. It had changeable color tubes. It was OK but the light pipe kept falling out from recoil so I gave up on them. They have probably fixed that flaw by now. I Have had students show up with them on front and rear on a Gen 5 Glock but found them distracting. I much prefer my Trijicon HD sights for the pistol.

The latest one I got was the TG8370B two-color open red-dot (and green-dot) sight for my Ruger AR-556. It replaces the Bushnell Trophy red-dot that I originally put on it as I really wanted an open sight to begin with, but hadn't found one that I could afford before. With this one on sale at Cabela's for just under $40.00 (originally $70.00), it was a "no-brainer" for me! Even better in my book, it perfectly co-witnesses with my iron sights without a picatinny riser needed, unlike every other red-dot optic I've used in the past so far!

Here is a pic I grabbed off of the internet since I already have the thing mounted... it's easier to show this way!

Did the same with my new 17.5. Literally couldn't be happier with them. Shoot to point of aim at both 10 and 20 meters.

Very fast and easy to pick up.
