As Extraordinary as Everyone Else |
I had a consulting gig last year that involved a few visits to “Camp David” The layers of security there, that we saw were pretty impressive. The last layer of security that we had to pass through before we were escorted onto the premises was a pass through a metal detector similar to what you might see at an airport. When I approached to take my turn I informed the marine standing there in full battle dress that I was wearing steel toed boots and he said thanks for the heads up and to go through. Of course as I entered all hell broke loose with lights and sirens going off. A half second later 3 marines, with rifles drawn burst through the doorway and it wasn’t until the first marine told them it was alright did they put their weapons down...pretty scary. Another quick story was that after meeting the Colonel in charge of security and having a quick tour of the area we’d be working in she was very adamant about not going anywhere without an armed escort which we were happy to oblige. Of course there were no phones/cameras allowed. I asked the Colonel that I understood the need for security but couldn’t people see the area by going on Google Earth and she said when I get back to my hotel that night to look it up and see if what is on the screen is what I saw....and it wasn’t! ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina

same thing with nuke plants you're not supposed to fly over one, but at one time they weren't marked on sectionals national insecurity and all that so if they won't tell you where they are, how are you supposed to avoid them try finding and identifying the Palo Verde Generating Station on the current Phoenix sectional but back to the original post, I wouldn't tell the TSA a damned thing, and if I knew anyone flying along the east coast, thats their business - we don't need travel papers yet

You're putting words in my mouth -- not cool, bro. I am fully aware of the mandate "to report anything unusual." That is NOT what my post is about. I quoted the newsletter from the Board (like an HOA Board of Directors, as our airport has condo type ownership). The exact words used were "if you become aware of flights departing X04 to the NCR (National Capitol Region), over the next couple of weeks, please contact the TSA MCO Coordination Center at 407-563-9884." There was nothing said about "anything unusual." Nothing at all. As worded, in the newsletter that I (and other aiport users) received, this is a request to report ANY and ALL flights departing our airport and heading for the DC area. We are all well aware of the Flight Rules that have been in effect for quite some time around the DC area. This request, to blow the whistle to TSA for any flight departing our airport and heading toward the DC area, is something new and different. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I'm not your "bro," and I put no words in your mouth. I spoke for myself, and addressed your comments. BIG difference. You took my words out of context with a partial quote. I stated:
I stated correctly. When suspected activity may occur, on occasion, alerts may be given, is what I said, and an alert has been given for your location for suspected activity: flights from your airfield to the DC SFRA. Tennants are asked to report anything unusual, and in this case, something very specific. Again, a true and correct statement. You're describing just such a request, which are given all over the country, frequently, sometimes in writing, sometimes in person. I've had both, as I also correctly stated. Clearly something is suspected, hence the request. The request is not made arbitrarily. Whether you find it unusual or not is up to you, but whether you do or not, you are asked to report it. Requests may include a specific individual who does not belong, a specific vehicle, a specific flight or flight routing (in your case), or anything else particular to intelligence received, and again, such requests are quite common. Requests may be more generic. Clearly the request you received was more specific to suspected activity which may occur, which is exactly what I said in my post, and exactly what you omitted and did not quote. I did not put words in your mouth. You just misquoted me.
