I'm single and alone. Four bedroom house all to myself.
Thinking about getting another dog. Had a 75 pound Boxer for 15 years.
I miss her so much. Don't care much for tiny lapdogs, I like larger dogs.
Anyway, Is it comforting to have your loyal friend next to you, or is it
a pain in the ass? Shedding hair in your bed, woofing and dreaming?
Oh, and snoring too.

I used to, yes.
He was a rescue and I spoiled him.
No pet right now and I don't know that I'll have another.

King size bed with 2 beagles and an Australian shepherd. Plenty of room for mrs gear and I, and having warm pooches curled up with you is comforting.

My 130 pound dog sleeps on my kind-sized bed with me.

It does bring some dirt and hair onto the bed, but the top blanket gets washed weekly, which solves that issue.

When it's cold, he snuggles up next to me to keep us both warm. When it's hot, he sleeps on the far side of the bed, or sometimes climbs down and sleeps on the floor.

You get used to the woofing and twitching while dreaming. Doesn't even wake me up.

Absolutely not. The dog isn’t even allowed upstairs. Stays on the main level and guards the door.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I let my last dog (Coonhound/Weimaraner mix) sleep with us from 5 years old till he passed (12 years old). I miss him every day. He kept you warm in the winter, slept down at the foot end with his head towards to the door. We genuinely enjoyed his company and he even had his own night time ritual where he picked his stuffed animal to sleep with.

My current dog (Lab) is only 3 and while the wife is always wanting to let him try to sleep with us, every time it just doesn't work. He just cant figure out to lay down, find a comfy spot and sleep. Constantly wants attention or to move and shift around. Maybe someday, but not yet.

My most recent little dude is different from my Jack Russell Terrier who always slept in the bed and typically right in the middle of the bed. Big Grin

My Schnauzer actually prefers his bed which is next to mine. He often will lay next to me as close as possible until he gets too warm or I fall asleep. Once that happens he moves to his bed.

I don’t mind my dog in our bed unless it’s been pouring outside and my wife let him out briefly. He has more than once jumped into the bed soaking wet. It feels a bit like being awoken by a happy hyperactive wet mop. Big Grin

At least one of the dogs at a time gets to be in the bed with us. When it's just my other half in the bed, I'd dare anybody to try to do any harm, with her basically surrounded in the bed by four large dogs including a pair of Dobermans.

We have a "sacrificial" top sheet we put on the bed over the rest of the covers to catch most of the sand, fur, and other critter related debris. That gets shaken off daily and washed or switched out at a higher frequency than the main bedding. Helps keep everything fresher.

Yes, but after 15 years I’ve gotten use to my wife.

Oh! You meant the dog. No problem with the 70 pound Golden Retriever. Doesn’t complain one bit when I toss and turn or get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Can’t say the same about the wife.

Our last dog was a Weimaraner lab mix who slept on our bed and it worked out fine. We now have two dogs so it’s not an option, they sleep in crates in our bedroom.

Roxy has a nest I put her in when I let her sleep in the bed with me. It's just a towel rolled into a donut, but she knows what to do and stays there all night.

I only get her when she gets the night terrors and calls for me. She will hold my finger with her foot and go right to sleep.
