I agree. I’m normally cynical and a glass half empty guy but this is a real win. And I can see this decision being used as a leverage point to open other doors. There’s no downside for freedom loving people in this decision. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I doubt it, NY isn't going to change its stance on reciprocity allowing out of state permit gun owners to carry in NY.

I agree. If the NY pols don't want their own citizens carrying, why would they do anything to make it easier for outsiders to do so? flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Why are so many law firms controlled by the left ? https://hotair.com/ed-morrisse...eir-law-firm-n478395 Paul Clement and Erin Murphy won a landmark Second Amendment case yesterday at the Supreme Court in NYSRP v Bruen Kirkland & Ellis LLP is one of the biggest law firms in the world Law firm Kirkland and Ellis LLP released a statement late yesterday that celebrated the win in Bruen and praised Clement and Murphy as “valued colleagues.” They then kicked them to the curb by telling the pair that they would no longer handle any Second Amendment cases because other clients complained about it. Clement and Murphy refused to drop their clients, and so had to leave the firm after a victory at the highest level for their firm “Unfortunately, we were given a stark choice: either withdraw from ongoing representations or withdraw from the firm,” Mr. Clement said. “Anyone who knows us and our views regarding professional responsibility and client loyalty knows there was only one course open to us: We could not abandon ongoing representations just because a client’s position is unpopular in some circles.” Clement and Murphy plan to open up their own firm

I haven't read the decision yet, but I thought it was interesting that Thomas ascribed the decision to both the 2d and 14th amendment. The 14th is basically the clause that says that a state cannot treat citizens of other states differently than it treats its own. NY may get away with demanding that anyone who wants to carry in New York get a permit, but then again the permit would have to be "shall issue".
Bravo! If they handle elections too then Trump needs to put them on retainer.

What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

I'm inclined to agree with this, in spite of the fact I don't want to. I've already figured out a workaround for them and if I can do it, they certainly can. The workaround? No CCW allowed within 2,000 feet of a school, hospital, doctor's office or church. That would effectively eliminate around 3/4 of the places you could carry.

And don't you think that that too will eventually be challenged in court and struck down as also unconstitutional? These democrats will do what they always do, overreach like they did with abortion, and eventually it will come around and bite them in the ass. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

^^ Well, that's kinda the punchline to the joke. Roe was decided by five Republican appointees and two Dem appointees.

I live in the Commie state of NewYorkistan. They are already trying to work around the decision. Hochul has called back her socialist minions next week in “an emergency session” to find a work around. God please let me be wrong but, NewYohkistan and other east coast states will not lay down. MARK MY WORDS!

Yes, it would be struck down but it would probably take 10+ years to do it.

That's always been the plan--put as many obstacles in the way that will likely not stand muster, knowing that it will take years to get rid of them through the courts. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

So? The commies have been trying to convert the US since the 1930's. They play the long game of incremental restrictions on our rights. Heller took a long time to get heard, and it was 14 years ago now. Like the founding fathers, we are not fighting for what will be in our lifetimes, we are fighting for what will be for our children and grandchildren. Sure NYC will do something silly like ban carry within a large distance of any school or any government building, and in the subways. And residents will have to sue that "reasonable restrictions" that result in an almost total ban are not "reasonable". That is, unless enough people speak out that the politicians doing this are afraid of losing elections.

Hochul knows she can do whatever she wants because it takes time and money to get through the courts. Not to mention most good guys here are happy being left alone and flying under the radar. I was a kitchen table FFL until just about a year ago and had countless customers that stayed out of the fight because they didn't want to bring trouble to themselves. We had a rally in 2013 against the Safe Act and had a whopping 8000 or so people in Albany. When a hundred thousand of my friends want to march I'll stand shoulder to shoulder otherwise gun enthusiasts in NY can BOHICA.

Some people could win the lottery but they’d mope around bitching about the taxes. The Sullivan law is kaput. That’s a 110 yo law and is now unconstitutional. This is a major victory in the long game. The left can fuss and pass more restrictions, but those restrictions are now even more tenuous. Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus

Concur, Sullivan Act is dead. Most folks who are not from NY don’t understand how feudal counties & politics are here. When Hochul announces, that, they will formulate restrictions to circumvent the decision, what she is really saying is that the State Legislature will formulate restrictions to circumvent your rights. It’s not going to work, not the way the decision is written and invite their most draconian efforts… it will only put them for the tyrants they are. The restrictions they enforce will be used against any of their own pet agendas… precedents cut both ways. Until then… Huzzzah!
