Hard to remember but I took DE in the early 70's.
I thing we trained with manual (3 on tree) but I think the test was on an automatic.
Long time ago and it was fuzzy.
Always loved and prefer a manual mostly.

I also took drivers ed in the early 70's I am 67 now. All the DE cars were automatics.

But I bought a new 1972 toyota with manual as my first car never having driven a manual. I guess I learned on the job.
