I've run a few of them,[/quote]

Alab, just a suggestion. For those of us who have been around for a while. Maybe you can put a qualifier in your post's. Something like "for you newbies. I have run a few of them."
Just so they know it is for them. And not the rest of us that have heard it a few hundred times. Wink

I'm an ex-sailor of the good ole Fuck The Navy for six years and one day and I'm offended at this turn of events.

Sailors aren't supposed to know about strip clubs??????

And who's the sleaze ball who ratted on the chief? Fuckin-a-ditty bag.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Yeah, Pence definitely walks the straight and narrow but I'd bet if he got wind of this...it would be the end of it.

I'm glad I retired when I did, and shit like this is one of the reasons I called it quits. This CMC will probably have to go through intensive sensitivity therapy, and may even get relieved.

One of my shipmates was re-enlisted by our CO at a Strip Club....on stage...with a couple of the ladies flanking him.
I can't even imagine what the reaction would be if someone requested that today. I'm guessing the requestor wouldn't even be offered a cigarette before the firing squad shot him.

Welcome to the new and improved socially acceptable everyone gets a trophy so no one gets offended military, government, fire Dept, Police Dept etc..

This one comment, which 99 out of 100 found funny will be the end of the CMC.

It is not just the Navy, it is all branches of DOD both civilian and military.

Heck, when I re-enlisted and went to boot camp for a second time in 2010 things had changed. Then when I re-enlisted 6 six years later, things had really changed.

Just stupid.
This PC, everyone's a puss is the most toxic thing I have ever run across.

I don't have the words to adequately express how glad I am that I don't have to deal with today's pussified military.

And before somebody gets their panties in a wad, I mean socially. Militarily, as war fighters, I suspect things are as good as, or better than they've ever been.

Example: In 1971, we had a change of command ceremony at Naval Security Group Activity, Clark Air Base, Philippines. Very small command, the new skipper was an O3 Lt.

The ceremony was like all C of C ceremonies. There's a time-honored script that goes with it, everybody in Dress Whites, personnel inspection, etc. etc. followed by a formal reception for "Officers and their Ladies, Enlisted Men and their Wives" at which everyone not actually on duty was expected to at least put in an appearance.

So, I showed up with the guys from my duty section and made nice for a while. After a decent interval with the Chiefs and Officers, the new Skipper cornered the rest of us enlisted pukes and said "I've gotta do this for another couple of hours. Which bar will you guys be in by say 1800 hours?"

We picked one, he said he'd meet us there in civvies.

And damned if he didn't! It wasn't a full-blown pub crawl, but we hit 2 or 3 of our favorite places and enjoyed some...ah..."gentlemans entertainment"...before he excused himself and the rest of us proceeded to get well and truly shitfaced.

After that, he was all business and maintained the proper relationship between a Commanding Officer and his troops, but we all knew he was a regular guy and would do right by us.

Imagine the shit storm something like that would create today.

Totally get it.

While on an LHA1 class ship, we had the pre-port briefing (by the CO) over the 1MC. This was the night before we hit Phuket, Thailand.

Rule #1 (per the CO): Thou shalt not dance upon the dance table in the gut.

Sooo, having duty the first day and being granted the option to do Shore Patrol, I elected to patrol the gut. Lo and belold, there's a major commotion at one of those outside bars and what do I spy - a white, non-Thai, dancing on the bar table; sans shirt.

As I approach, the CHENG, NAVO, and AMO (a female) stop me telling me they have the situation under control. And from that table I hear a booming voice calling me out by my first name - it was the CO, dancing and inviting me (while on duty) to join them for a beer.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Before PC took over and back in '68 our ship was doing duty in the Med as part of a ready amphib task force. The Marines on board had a chaplain assigned to this group. Needless to say the language the troops used was rather salty.

We were anchored outside Naples Italy and used one of the LCVP boats to get back and forth to shore for Liberty. I had to laugh on one trip back after being ashore when the Chaplain blurted out, "Well, back to the land of the motherf**kers." He was of course making reference to the language he was overhearing every day.

It really was funny coming from his lips.

IANAS (I Am Not A Sailor) but I cannot think of a single reason to confront a senior NCO or Chief Petty Officer over something this idiotic. Ever. Any circumstances. Unless they're actually conducting human sacrifices on-the-hour or buggering altar boys, you leave them the fuck alone and thank them for being the backbone of your service.

I remember back in the 1990s shouting "make a hole" so bystanders would move out of the way of the sailors responding to fire and flooding casualties became verboten.
We were told that "make a hole" would offend female sailors.

Also, the Wog Bitch no longer existed as a character in the crossing of the line ceremony, which been a tradition for centuries. I belive it is called the Wog Dog now.

Any reference to a strip club, even in a joke, would have been "offensive" in the world I grew up in.
Vice President Pence is one of these types of people.
