ETA: in a different thread https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...400024115#4400024115 you posted something that might do that, but the eBay link is dead.

First, maybe one of the 4 cameras also records his speed?

Second, the video seems to show SC maintained a consistent speed.

Third, SC’s brake light being on or off is irrelevant. What matters is whether or not SC slowed down abruptly which is possible without activating his brake lights by downshifting. On the flip side, your brake lights come on before your brakes start slowing your vehicle down.

Lastly, the video clearly shows the motorcyclist accelerating towards SC, as evidenced by the increasing gap with his fellow motorcyclist, and slamming on his own brakes as evidenced by the compression of the front forks and subsequent decreasing gap with his fellow motorcyclist. It was a clear dick move by the motorcyclist.

There you go! Case closed, you did slow down because the vehicle in front of you slowed down to turn and Mr. Motorcyclist wasn’t paying attention.

It seems crazy, but four cameras is the way to go. I was sitting at a red light along with all the cars around me. When the light went green, the car to my left side swiped me and took off. My front camera caught the crunch and my swearing, but not the license plate, passenger, or driver.

I'd say after watching the clip of F & R, you slowed to accommodate the braking vehicle in front of you. The biker, likely not happy with the speed was going to pass you but had to haul up due to the oncoming vehicle.

If he had pulled out to blast around you he'd have ended up a hood ornament.

The Mini 3 was announced last month.

Does the 2 or the 3 require anything other than a free app and the camera to run? I will not get a subscription to anything, so does this just record on a loop with an SD card and you can look at them on the app if you want to?

I ordered a Garmin Mini 2 today. I’ll let you know what I think tomorrow after installation and first impressions.

I had a young man who was driving recklessly cross 2 lanes of traffic, clip my front bumper and then take off. I pulled over and called the police and handed them the sd card from my dashcam.

Beautiful video that showed the whole thing including his plate number.

His insurance sent me a nice check.

Ooh, my new car has all those cameras. Now to find out if there is a memory card slot in it.

I have a front and rear camera system on my motorcycle. Though I might bend a few traffic rules once in a while, I figure it is more likely to help me (or my heirs) rather than be used against me. I don't do any crazy high speeds or stuff like that.

Ah, fine. I ordered a Garmin Mini 3, Dongar adapter, and SD card for my Tacoma to test out. Depending on how it goes, I'll see about adding a rear cam.

They are a big bang for the buck. Great image quality, good low light performance, GPS. Ive been running one for years but I really want to upgrade to one with a rear facing camera as well.

I’ve been messing with the Garmin Mini 2 for an hour or so. The camera is impressive. The software/interface isn’t that great. I’ll install it tomorrow and we will see how it does. As far as I can tell, it only works if a smartphone is connected to it? Pretty gray area. I’m pretty frustrated with it at this point.
I’m pretty certain it will be going back. The interface is just too damn clunky. Great hardware, trash software.

I was on a cider mill run with one of our my car clubs. On the way back we had our small parade of cars. We approached a freeway on/off ramp area and the light turned red. I was the fourth car in the parade and we all stopped.

An SUV that was 2 cars behind me in the left lane (no traffic in front) kept right on going and sailed through that light like it wasn't even there. Had someone jumped that light or been at speed when it turned green for the off ramp that would have been one heck of a crash. Next light I ended up next to her. Young woman, on the phone, with an SUV full of kid car seats.

Starvis 2 4K is the latest greatest sensor. Most rear cams are still 2k.

Or buy and install a second primary camera as your rear facing cam. Starvis 2 4K front and back.

There is no screen on the Garmin Minis, so phones are the interface.

If you want otherwise, check out Viofo, Blackvue, etc.

FYI I bought the Rove (fake) 4K Dual for $100 before I knew it was fake 4K. It’s still a Starvis 2 sensor, but 2.5k and not 4K. Rear is 1080P.

Mini2 doesn't require a subscription. I wouldn't use it if it did.

I think the HW is not bad but it does get a little hot. I like the feature that deletes all new video when you turn off the car. I didn't want a camera to record my routes and history, especially home vicinity. If I do want it to save something, it's just a button press.

The app is a bit clunky and slow. However, I never really use it except for configuration. So, a few times over the past 5+ years. If I want to watch video, I connect the camera to a pc using usb. Or a micro sd card reader.

I'll get the mini 3 for the other car so that I don't need to keep moving the camera back and forth. The mini 2 is at a nice price right now but I'm interested in the built in circular polarizer.

Question: how much of a battery drain is it to keep the camera running even when the car is off; I'd use the obd adapter. Is it parasitic levels or not recommended for more than overnight?
