Looking for a quality zippered hoodie Login/Join

You would think it would be a simple matter of doing an internet search, or checking youtube, but what usually comes up are crappy AI recommendations- a top ten sort of thing with no actual experience behind it, and websites that seem like the manufacturers are paying to have their stuff ranked. Just useless stuff, really, and that goes for just about anything you're looking for. So screwed up.

Anyhoo, I'm looking for a nice quality zippered hoodie. Something warm and comfortable. I'm not looking for a full rain jacket, just something to block the wind. No 200+ dollar choices. No designer yadda yadda.

Thanks

I have a grey Carhartt in XL that runs big and is too big for me. I would like to trade it for a large but no classifieds Razz . Are you a full XL size Para?
It is not a dressy hoody, More of a every day basic piece.

I just looked for it and now I don't see it, doh.

I believe Arborwear makes a zip up hoodie you will like.
Around $140 but as thick and comfortable as I’ve ever worn.
They might even have a retail store near you.

Cotton or Synthetic? With or w/o a Water Repellent Shell? Fleece/Fleece-Lined?

Narrowing down your preferences will produce better results as there are seemingly infinite options in the 'Zippered Hoodie' category.

A little on the spendy side, but Baerskin makes a quality product.

I was gonna recommend Carhartt, but this Origin looks like an all around winner! Wink

^^^^^^^^Agreed, USA made and lots of satisfied customers. My only reservation is ordering a Lg or XL?

Before I retired and our local walmarts quit carrying them I would buy a Dickies insulated hoodie every year, not that they wear out, they would just get packed with used motor oil, transmission fluid and other various greases from repairing vehicles for a living. they would get tore from hood latches and other sharp points on cars and trucks but that's not the hoodies fault. I really hated when I could no longer find them in our local walmart because they shifted to a cheaper brand, They really helped keep me warm in unheated automotive shops in the winter in Texas.

Tabitha's son bought me the Bearskin with the detachable rain shell. I love it. It has pockets all in it and one of the pockets is for folding up the rain shell to store. I keep a thumb drive will all my ATF files in the shoulder pocket in case I see a toy I want.

I have this Carhartt full zip Rain Defender sweatshirt -

https://www.carhartt.com/produ...-full-zip-sweatshirt

I like it because it is warm, feels “heavy”, has a full size hood for excellent protection, is coated to repel light precipitation (wash inside out!), and appears to be well made.

It is not advertised as wind-resistant, but because of its construction, it offers a modest amount, and certainly more than what a ‘plain’ sweatshirt does.

It does not have any inside pockets however, if that is a feature you would like to have.

ETA - This newer version does have inside pockets.

My local Lowes carries Carhart clothing, see if yours does and you can check out the brand when you are there.

For me I like to get my hands on stuff and try it on, not everything is cut the way I am....

Bass Pro Shops (and I assume Cabela's) carries Carhartt as well. Tractor Supply also carries Carhartt, but to a lesser extent than Bass Pro, at least in the Zippered Hoodie category from what I've seen locally.

I just bought a Carhart full zip hoodie from Bass Pro. The tag says rain repellant. No huge Carhart logo on the sleeve either .

Timely thread and a lot of good recommendations. I really like the American Giant classic full zip but it costs a little more than some options.
