Yup, the second I open a can, they go in the refrigerator. Right now I am on my last can from last year, which is what made me see if they were available.

It's not a big deal, just a matter of housekeeping.

Hubs produces the best peanuts, no two ways about it.

I now get raw peanuts from the Asian market and add them to oatmeal and brownies. Smile

Many years ago, agony (who has not posted since 2020) offered a can of these as a karma. I won. They were very good.

****THIS IS AN OLDER THREAD**** HECK, ONE YEAR OLD!

The single origin peanuts are back in-stock!!! I am about to place my order! I remember first seeing this thread four years ago and laughing at the cost. I stopped laughing after I finally decided to try them. This years I ordered a case of 10.

Yankee! (That’s an insult Wink )

Of course boiled peanuts are a southern thing. Salty, Cajun, spicy…all of them are great!

I love my boiled peanuts here in south Louisiana. Seem like too many people want to put crab boil in them now. I just want water and salt and peanuts

I've been buying Hub's for years. First found them at Atlantic Liquors in Rehoboth Beach, and was blown away by the freshness and quality. Never had the Sole Source variety, but just ordered a couple of tins.

My question is, what time of year are peanuts harvested, and when are they at their peak after processing? Conversely, is there a time when one is advised to avoid purchase?

Nuts to me!

I may have over done it on my 2024 Hub's order, and I'm still enjoying their single origin peanuts.

Hopefully, in about 90 days I'll be enjoying single origin peanuts from TatorTodd farms (i.e. I planted peanuts in my garden about 10 days ago and should be ready to harvest in 90 days).

This is what AI said:

Peanuts are typically harvested in late summer through fall, with the main U.S. harvest running from about September to October and often into November. Fresh “green” peanuts are usually at their best in late summer to early fall, roughly late July through late November depending on the region.

When they’re best

Freshly dug peanuts are the seasonal peak if you want the most “just harvested” flavor. After harvest, peanuts are cured and dried for safe storage, and processed peanuts can remain good well beyond harvest season if handled properly.

When to avoid buying

The main time to avoid buying is when peanuts may be old, poorly dried, or exposed to moisture, since that can hurt quality and storage safety. In practical terms, skip peanuts that smell stale or rancid, or that appear damp, moldy, or soft when they should be dry; processors aim for low moisture because excess moisture reduces quality and can encourage spoilage.
