I try to only use Top Tier rated fuels. Mostly Shell V-Power. I may also use Mobil or Sunocco. As for additives, my Corvette gets a bottle of Techron a few times per year. I've also used a Royal Purple additive before.

I had a BMW R1150 GS motorcycle that at around 9,000 miles started pinging (detonation) say when accelerating up a grade in a higher gear. It never did this before and that BMW engine had a tendency of carbon build up. I tried different brands of 91-93 octane but it still persisted.

Finally I added a bottle of Tectron good for up to 12 gallons to the 6 gallon tank and by the end of that tankful the detonation was completely gone and the oil was pitch black. I assumed what carbon didn't go out the tailpipe was collected by the oil so I changed it
.

Ever since, as a preventive measure, I add a bottle to my vehicles two fill-ups prior to changing oil.

I'll add that in my experience neither Seafoam or Tectron will clean clogged or partially clogged carburetor jets.

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Please inform us the specific vehicle with hesitation. Make model serial odometer etc.

Please remember that we are all programmed to seek confirmation of our bias when unraveling a mystery. Fuel may be related to the issue. It could also be fuel pressure.

We need engine displacement type of fuel system etc.
