I agree IPhone 13 of whatever type you prefer, I am still using my IPhone 7 with no problems. When mine does go belly up, I will get the latest IPhone...they're that good.

Well, I’m typing this from a new 13 Pro. We opted for the newer camera. Thanks for all the input, I appreciate it, especially those who suggested familiarity. I didn’t even really have time for this, honestly, so forget about learning a new OS.

Smart choice. We've mulled over going over to Apple's walled garden but recently stuck with evil Google and Android with a pair of S22s for the same reason as you: it's the system that my wife and I are used to.

Just upgraded from my Iphone 6s Plus to a Iphone 13 Pro Max. The bigger the screen the better for my old eyes. The whole purchasing experience is another story but overall I am very satisfied.

FYI.....I did choose NOT to allow Apple to digitize my face for facial recognition. Its bad enough that our new driver's licenses in Alabama have that data.

Yeah, the Pro Max seemed nice for eye strain, but the standard Pro was an upgrade in screen size while reducing form factor from the 8 Plus I’ve had for years. Seemed like a win to me. This feels like a much more manageable size.

If it's only a battery, you can get it replaced for about $50 in Best Buy. But call Apple first and let them run a diagnosis remotely.

An alternative would be to buy an unlocked not latest model of iPhone on Amazon and port your service.

I have a 7 plus. I wouldn't buy a new iPhone now only for the fact that it's 13. I'll wait until 14 comes out. But I don't plan on replacing my phone until it does get wonky. And I'll probably do like the last time, bought an unlocked older model off Amazon.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Over the years I have always bought the "sim free" model outright, directly from Apple. No ties to a carrier or carrier "deal". Usually every 3 or 4 years apart, which is enough time for new features to accumulate, so the new phone is really new to me. I cannot see upgrading more often for just marginal feature improvements from model to model.

I do it in a similar way, but I log on to Apple's military website. Any active duty, or retired, or honorably discharged veteran can access this site after being verified through ID.me. This site's appearance is identical to the regular Apple website, except for prices; most Apple items are shown at a discount.

I scroll down to the very bottom of the page and there's a link to Apple re-furbs, for even better saving. Combining the discounts from re-furb and military, many (most?) big ticket items like computers, iPhones, iPads, etc. wind up at 25% below regular retail and come with the standard Apple warranty.
