Do No Harm, Do Know Harm |
Probably the most widely consumed drug, I find that I require a rather obscene amount of caffeine whether I’m working night shift or day shift. My body simply doesn’t like waking up. A large cup or mug of coffee doesn’t even touch it. I’ll still have a caffeine headache. I’d guess that’s around 150mg of caffeine. A Bang or Reign sets me about right. Those are 300mg each. That sounds like a lot, but I know people that drink several cups of coffee a day, pots even. At 80ish mg per cup, it’s no worse (ignoring the other things in the energy drink). Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. I’ll add...a bang or reign is just to start the day/night. Usually there’s a second caffeine hit about 6 hours after wake up. 600mg is common for a day. 5 - 6 cups of dark roast coffee per day, made by my Nespresso Pixie. Either an espresso, or a lungo (an espresso with a bit more water run through it). Caffeine doesn’t interfere with my sleeping at all. Serious about crackers

Mine is usually in the form of a preworkout supplement. Two scoops of cellucor's C4 is 300mg of caffeine at once. I barely feel it. I used to consume an energy drink later in the day but have been cutting that out lately.

I don’t drink coffee all day long. I have 4, 8oz cups in the morning and I’m done. Using Chongo’s guide of 80mg/cup, I guess that’s just over 300 mg, so it’s substantial. _______________________________________________________ despite them

3 to 4 large(r) mugs of coffee in the morning before work then 2 mugs of coffee at work all before 11am. Then...sometimes a mug of green tea around 3. Cream and sugar in the pre-work coffee, black at work and honey in the tea (naturally sourced, raw honey) Coffee is fresh ground, medium roast, made pretty strong.

Your poll doesn’t have an option for me. I’ll occasionally have unsweetened tea, pretty much kicked caffeine a long time ago. Never been a coffee fan and there’s too much other shit and sugar in energy drinks/“Cokes”.

Now one cup of coffee in the morning. If I do an early morning bike ride/race, and don't have time for coffee, I will bring a couple gel packs with 40 mg of caffeine in them (for the "performance" benefit caffeine in moderation has shown to have.) Years ago I would have a couple cups of coffee in the morning and a couple Diet Cokes or iced teas in the afternoon. Decided to reduce - took two weeks of headaches. Now I am sensitive to too much, I can get the wired feeling if I have a second cup immediately after the first one. Not nearly as much as before I retired. I now get my fix mostly from Sweet Green Tea. Make it by the gallon. A gallon last a two or three days usually. Collecting dust.

Fighting the good fight |
Two cups of coffee before work. One cup of coffee about halfway through my shift. On rare occasions I'll have a fourth cup of coffee after work, if I have a bunch of stuff to do and I'm really dragging ass. But I also drink water and non-caffeinated hot tea throughout the day. I only drink about 2 sodas per year, usually while driving on long road trips on hot days. I don't do energy drinks at all. Don't like the flavors, excess sugar, or mega caffeine jitteriness. I used to keep some 5 Hour Energy shots handy for times when I really needed a pickup, but those are mostly B vitamins with just a little caffeine, and they don't make me jittery. However, I haven't used those in several years.

I drink 2 - 3 cups a day, and sometimes a Coke sneaks in there somewhere. I don't drink for the caffeine buzz, and I don't think I'm addicted because there are days I sometimes don't have time to grab coffee and I don't go into any kind of withdrawal symptoms. I drink because I like coffee and I want to keep my tolerance up. I like having a cup before bedtime and falling fast asleep immediately.
