A little over 2 years ago, the frequency of my migraines increased enough that my PCP referred me to a neuoroligist specializing in headaches. One of the first things they did was to:
  • cut my caffeine intake in half. I used to have 2 cups of coffee in the morning, a diet soda at lunch, and a coffee at 4 or 5 PM.
  • stipulate that my caffeine quantity was to be as close as practicable to the same every day. I now have a morning coffee and a coffee at 4 or 5 PM.

For migraines, she said too much is bad, too little is bad, and too much day to day variation is bad.

Years ago, I drank coffee all day long.

Then a couple of years ago, I started tapering off, no more evening coffee.

Now, I only drink one cup in the mornings, sometimes, rarely, I might have a second cup.

Not sure why my consumption changed.

I'm not sure what the caffeine content is but I usually have an energy drink at the start of my shift while sorting. After that, it's all water unless I stop for lunch and have a soda.

I wake at 4am and make my French press, all consumed with the early AM news. More coffee consumed from 730am till about 1000am, then I’m pretty much caffeine free in the afternoon to accommodate my 8-830pm bedtime.

3-5 large cups before 1:00 pm. No coffee after 1 or no sleep happens.

Another one looking for the ‘none’ option. I’ll have a half sweet, half unsweet cup of tea with lunch once or twice in a month. Gave up sodas in 05 and have never tasted any of those 'energy' drinks.

2 cups of coffee brewed in my French Press per day. All of it consumed between 7am and 12 noon. If I drink any coffeeafter about 12.30pm or so, my sleep suffers. I just dont drink sodas, or energy drinks or energy shots.

I have two cups in the morning and one in the afternoon....10oz cups.

Because my brain doc said so.....

Before my stroke I was like you Chongo, I had two giant cups, went to work had several large cups during the day...on night shift I had the same and added a RedBull around midnight or 0100hrs....

Brain doc said no bueno on that much coffee as it increases my BP. (I think she’s crazy and my body wants more)

Now I yawn all day, all day long....she says it due to the stroke, but I know it’s a silent scream for more magical bean water!

I was drinking a 14 cup pot of fresh ground dark coffee... For the last two days I have cut that down to eight cups as doc told me to quit caffeine and I agreed to cut it down.

I drink a small Redbull in the morning at work. Sometimes another mid day. That's about 80mg each can.

None. Never got into coffee as bitter doesn't work for me and loading up on sugar and cream didn't make sense. Recently cut out soda too.

I cut way back and I've been pretty happy with where I'm at. My blood pressure seems happier as well.

I do a cup maybe 2 of coffee a day and some green tea. I dont do soda except as a mixer.

    Just one cup of coffee.

Actually around 3-5 cups (6-oz.) in the morning. So I'm probably close to, but not over, or much over, that 300 mg. I don't do any caffeine after that - no soft drinks containing it, no energy drinks, no pills or powders.

I generally have 1.5 cups of coffee every morning. I don't usually eat first thing, before the rest of the house is stirring. so any more gives me an acid stomach.

I have been drinking coffee since about age 3 or 4 when it was a much better alternative than Ritalin. Always black, never much of a sugar or cream guy.

I use a french press and usually have just a couple ounces of coffee/grounds left that go into the garden.

One chiclet of Military Energy Gum 100mg in AM (great stuff available on Amazon..originally developed by Wrigleys IIRC) followed by 2 Caffeine mints (80mg total).

After lunch another 1 chiclet of gum (100mg).

The bioavailability of the gum and the mints is fantastic!

2 or 3 20oz cups of coffee after wake up, 2 sugar free Monsters in the afternoon.
Less when playing golf or shooting, I’ll only have 1 cup after wake up.
