Kennedy is legit as far as a Ranger and a former Strikeforce and UFC fighter.

However, none of that is relevant to his opinion on the 2A.

I have never listened to his Podcast - he was not very relevant in the world of MMA and his career was very short.

I think it's a cruel irony that this man who has risked his life at the altar of liberty and swore an oath to defend the constitution and the Bill of rights, now advocates for the attenuation of those rights for his fellow citizens. He dishonors his previous service and the mortal sacrifice of 100s of thousands of our brave military men and women resting in rows and rows around the world. He does not respect other's liberty as much as he thinks he does.

I sent him an email and let him know I was disappointed in his decision about the 19 years olds etc. Here is his reply...

David,

If you take a step back for a second and think about what I’m trying to do here. I’m trying to have a conversation. A discussion with somebody that completely disagrees with everything that we fight for. In that one conversation. I Perhaps won over 10,000 new people to our side. In the process never called anyone names. Just opened a bunch of peoples eyes that we the people that love the Second Amendment can still have a rational conversation. I’ve done thousands of interviews and podcasts. All of them fighting for our gun rights. Yet here you are demonstrating why this is such a divided nation. I standby how I talked to Lance. I’m thankful that we have thousands of new people that are supporting the Second Amendment because of the conversation and disappointed in you for wasting your time attacking somebody that is on the same side instead of following my example and trying to win over others to protecting the Constitution.

STOP believing what other people write about me or looking at a single example with out considering the WHY of what I said. My position to be perfectly clear is that I support the Second Amendment. I’ve sworn to protect the Constitution to fight for it against foreign and domestic enemies. I’m a gun owner. I’m a businessman that teaches people how to shoot and how to use weapons to protect themselves.
I believe a well regulated militia specifically refers to a law-abiding citizen and that citizens should have the means of overthrowing a corrupt government if necessary. I am pro- Second Amendment in every single imaginable way. I have fought for it in more ways than anyone I know. I have the courage to have a conversation with anyone, especially those that disagree with me and not attack them.
If we can’t discuss ideas, particularly ones that challenge our beliefs, we are cowards. I welcome gun control discussion, even though I am adamantly against it, because we cannot solve the problems we do have in our society without those conversations.

I’ll be at the NRA convention next weekend supporting an organization I firmly believe in and support, and welcome discussion with any of you in attendance or even protesting it.

I believe the right to bear arms is not only a constitutional right but a natural right, and that a well-regulated militia is an individual law abiding American, standing ready to protect Home and property, and in the worst case, against a tyrannical government.

Thank you.

Tim Kennedy

Tim has apparently never figured out that compromising with people whose goal is the complete confiscation of all privately held weapons is a terrible idea.

That's exactly what I took away from his interview and his reply to me.

There are people who I mostly agree with, but I can't get behind them because they speak mostly Pompous Asshole.

When they make a mistake, they won't reconsider. You are wrong.

In spite of what he wrote in response, I wonder if he himself would enforce what he advocates. Would he present himself armed and authorized at a citizen's door to impose consequences for disobedience to the attenuation of God's gift to free men? He claims he had a discussion of ideas. I saw a surrender of principle.

I've come to the same conclusion... gradually.
After seeing how immature the millennial generation is, and allowing them to stay on their parents insurance until age 26, etc.
They don't have the life experience to decide who our leaders should be.
Plus... they've been steeped in socialism in the government schools.

As for "19 Year Olds Should Not Own AR-15s", well, I'm just not so sure as some of you.
Yes, I understand the arfmel argument:

I largely agree with that. Never surrender. Not one inch. But... most of this current crop of millennials don't have the military experience or the training and safety instruction that darthfuster and many of you have given to your children.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Conspicuously absent in his response is why he thinks 19 year olds should not have access to ARs.
The most dangerous weapon any teenager has is an automobile. Period.

He may have "won over" 10,000 new people to "our" side but 2 things about that:

1. whose side is he on?
2. if he won 10,000 people to the pro-2A side, he sure as hell lost more than that with those comments.

I'm sure his business will suffer because of this. When will leftists (because that's ultimately what he is) learn that as a businessman, when you open your mouth about politics, your business will ultimately suffer?

So, he supports the 2nd amendment and our right to fight against a tyrannical government but, he expects us to fight that government with lesser weapons? He's an idiot.

I tried to watch this > twice, and couldn't get through it.
The part where 19 year old should not be able to buy an AR not so much a concern for me but the fact he LIKES and advocates Gun Control is the deal breaker.
I am fine with whatever age we want to set for an adult BUT it goes for everything: alcohol, join the military, voting, buying firearms, signing contracts, tobacco ...whatever.
When I grew up it was legal adult age was 18.
I could drink at 18, it was not a problem.
You want to make it 19, 20 or 21 > go for it and make it universal.
Simple fix.
On Tim Kennedy I never heard of him before but according to his resume he had it all but his rhetoric is contradictory to say the least.
A true definition of hypocrite.
