Was at a friend's house once and asked for black pepper, all there was was a cayenne/black pepper blend. It was an epiphany. I use much less black pepper than I used to, and use a blend, straight cayenne, or black pepper depending on what I'm eating or my mood. Slap yo momma is a delicious cayenne/black pepper blend with some garlic also. I don't know how Slap yo momma does it, but it seems to elevate flavor like it has MSG in it, but it doesn't have it.
