OK, this is what I have in mind. I want to run it past you guys to see if there's interest in doing this.

Since I've managed to dredge up some classic P-Series SIGs which might be up for sale, and due to my great fortune in my own search, I thought we might break the rules and have a sales event outside of Classifieds. What I'm thinking is that I can create a thread in the Pistols section of the forum, in which members can put up for sale their classic P-series pistols: P220, 225, 226, 228, 229, 230 and 232.
A member would list his pistol or pistols for sale in the thread, including details, photos and an asking price. In order for this to work, any member posting an ad in the thread must have their email address listed in their profile. Do not place your email address in your ad or it will be deleted. This event is for SIGforum members only. Unfortunately, this means that members who registered after March 20 of last year will not be able to buy in the thread, as these newer members do not have access to your email address in your profile. This was necessary due to scammer activity. However, those newer members can still sell their pistols in the thread, provided they have placed their email address in the "Display Email" field in their profile.

All responses to ads should be via email only. There should be no "I'll take it" in the thread, and if you contact a member and he tells you the pistol is sold, that means it is sold- no bickering, no friction, no contentiousness of any kind. I am doing this as a show of gratitude and it should be fun, and only fun. Don't be "that guy".

We'll see how much interest there is in such a thing, give it a few days to take off, and then I'll determine how long the thread will remain open.

How does this sound? We'll call it the "Classic P-series SIG Pistol Sales Bonanza!!" Big Grin

Please tell me what you think.

That means there would be nothing in the thread, except the actual WTS ones from members (sellers). And, once they're sold, sellers would then edit their ads to say "SOLD".

Incidental commentary is fine: "Nice pistol" or "I had one of those" or "That's a great price". That kind of thing would enhance the thread, but not even a whiff of interest in the items should appear in the thread.

And, yes, of course- my mistake for omitting the essential need to mark an item as "sold" ASAP, for obvious reasons.

I'm glad you found the pistol and by way of karma even.

It's true that there are many generous people in the world but what makes it work here is that leeches and other people of questionable character are weeded out by the membership and you. Otherwise, generous people wise up quickly and the well dries up sooner or later.

There seems to be little interest in my suggestion. It makes sense, I suppose. If you are selling a pistol, you're already selling it, and since the list of acceptable firearms is quite narrow, I guess this is a non-starter.

I'm not sure all interested parties will notice your suggestion. They might have stopped getting notifications on this thread since we know you found something for your friend.

Sounds like a wonderful idea for anyone looking to buy or sell a classic Sig. Also a way to keep interest going on these older guns.
