https://www.washingtontimes.co...te-targeted-house-e/ The House Ethics Committee on Thursday announced an investigation into allegations that Del. Michael F.Q. San Nicolas had a sexual relationship with a member of his congressional staff. It was the second investigation the committee launched in as many days that involved a Democratic member having sex with a staff member, which is prohibited under House ethics rules. Mr. San Nicolas, a nonvoting Democratic delegate from Guam, is also under investigation by the committee for allegedly converting campaign funds to personal use and accepting improper or excessive campaign contributions, according to the committee. The committee noted, as it does when announcing all investigations, that the mere fact that an investigation was launched does not itself indicate a violation has occurred or reflect a judgment by the committee. “The congressman welcomes the opportunity for due process,” said Sahara Defensor, legal counsel in Mr. San Nicolas’ congressional office. She did not comment further. The committee announced Wednesday that it has opened an investigation into freshman Rep. Katie Hill based on news reports that the California Democrat was involved in a three-way relationship with her husband and a female campaign staffer, while also having an affair with a male staffer in her congressional office. As reported by Red State, a conservative website, Ms. Hill was involved with a 22-year-old campaign staffer and her husband in a “throuple” relationship. Her husband was apparently OK with that arrangement but felt the line was crossed when he learned Ms. Hill, 32, was also having another relationship with her male office employee. “Allegations that I have been involved in a relationship with Mr. Kelly are absolutely false,” Ms. Hill said in a statement. “I am saddened that the deeply personal matter of my divorce has been brought into public view and the vindictive claims of my ex have now involved the lives and reputations of unrelated parties.” Mr. San Nicholas and Ms. Hill are accused of breaking the rule against office romance that the House adopted as part of its response to the #MeToo movement, aiming to protect congressional staff from predatory bosses. Didn't Gowdy once say that House Ethics is where investigations go to die? I feel like we'll have as much luck seeing anything come of this as we did getting the Congressional Harassment Payoff list. I'm not trying to be Mr. Negative, and if this lady made inappropriate payments, she should face the consequences. She's trash and should resign, but in order to get there you have to have at least a shred of scruples. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
Just another political shell game. We already know morals and ethics are hard to come by in DC. The truth is that I could care less about their after hours entertainment. I'm sure there a lot more sex scandals that nobody will ever know about and these fluff stories are real distraction from the business they all were sent there to do. There are a lot more important ethics and other issues that will go undone while they make a big deal over this. Meanwhile they all line their pockets and mismanage the affairs of the country using stuff like this to distract us from the real issues. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Ms Hill was elected to represent an area of Los Angeles County that's been traditionally represented by Republicans in Congress. Her election was supported almost entirely by contributions from outside the district. She was facing a difficult reelection bid as it was. Hopefully (if she even remains in office until then), this will be the end of her short term in Congress after the 2020 elections. I used to live in her district and she was very tenuously holding on to her office as it was, while claiming to be a "moderate." We can now say she was quite the player. Katie Hill resigns from the House of Reps. Nancy Pelosi on Katie Hill’s Resignation: She ‘Made a Great Contribution’ as ‘Leader of Freshman Class’ https://www.breitbart.com/poli...r-of-freshman-class/ House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) responded to the news of freshman Rep. Katie Hill’s (D-CA) resignation amid allegations of Hill’s inappropriate relationships with staffers, praising the freshman Democrat for making a “great contribution as a leader of the Freshman Class” but stressing the importance of ensuring a “climate of integrity and dignity in the Congress, and in all workplaces.” Hill, who has faced allegations of engaging in inappropriate relationships with staffers – including a “throuple” relationship with a female staffer and another sexual relationship with a male congressional staffer – will reportedly resign by the end of the week, according to reports from Politico: “It is with a broken heart that today I announce my resignation from Congress. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but I believe it is the best thing for my constituents, my community and our country,” Hill wrote in a letter announcing the news after it was first reported by POLITICO. “This is what needs to happen so that the good people who supported me will no longer be subjected to the pain inflicted by my abusive husband and the brutality of hateful political operatives who seem to happily provide a platform to a monster who is driving a smear campaign built around cyber exploitation,” Hill added. Hill did not specify a resignation date in her letter but multiple people with knowledge of her plans said she could step aside as soon as Nov. 1. Pelosi released a statement after reports of Hill’s resignation surfaced, praising the freshman lawmaker’s “powerful commitment to her community” and her “great contribution as a leader of the Freshman Class”: “Congresswoman Katie Hill came to Congress with a powerful commitment to her community and a bright vision for the future, and has made a great contribution as a leader of the Freshman Class,” Pelosi said in a statement. “She has acknowledged errors in judgment that made her continued service as a Member untenable,” she continued. “We must ensure a climate of integrity and dignity in the Congress, and in all workplaces.” The report of Hill’s resignation follows the House Ethics Committee’s announcement of a probe into Hill’s alleged relationship with a congressional staffer. “The Committee is aware of public allegations that Representative Katie Hill may have engaged in a sexual relationship with an individual on her congressional staff, in violation of House Rule XXIII, clause 18 (a),” the statement read: While Hill said the allegations were part of a “coordinated effort to try to destroy me and the people close to me,” she eventually admitted to carrying out an “inappropriate” relationship with a female staffer. “I know that even a consensual relationship with a subordinate is inappropriate, but I still allowed it to happen despite my better judgment,” Hill wrote. “For that I apologize. I wish nothing but the best for her and hope everyone respects her privacy in this difficult time.” “To every girl and woman – to everyone who believes in this fight – this isn’t over,” Hill tweeted on Sunday: _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." Martyr? Nope. She claims to be a VICTIM of "right wing media and Republican opponents..." Brett Baier showed a brief excerpt, here's all four minutes of her whining. It's hard to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bFfYrRkE9E The comments do NOT support her one bit.

The comments may not support her, but the media hacks sure do. It's been pretty pathetic seeing the way the mainstream press has covered this. They portray her as the victim of a right wing smear. Just one example - USA Today portrays her as victim of 'revenge porn': For the record, her husband didn't put the images out there and there are also images that Hill put out there herself on porn sites looking for partners. It's amazing to see almost every mainstream media outlet line up to support her and denounce the 'conservative' reporter who dared to publish this. The same people who posted story after story about Kavanaugh with zero evidence. https://twitter.com/KatieHill4CA/with_replies “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

Power is nothing without control |
I’m not from her district so she wasn’t supposed to represent me, but assuming she was, I’m not convinced I’d give a crap who she slept with in her personal life. They appear to all be consenting adults, so whatever. It isn’t like Anthony wiener who was sending dick pics to underage girls. Anyway, her own party should probably be crucifying her for using her power and position to coerce a relationship with that poor, young girl, cause they hate that sort of thing, right? Oddly, I haven’t been seeing that as a major narrative in the news. However, whomever decided to leak the nude ‘let’s get high and fuck’ pictures is an asshole. I’m somewhat amazed she let those pics be taken, but even so it is a super-douche move to ‘leak’ that stuff. I don’t care how mad you are, sharing private, intimate stuff like that for personal gain or just to hurt someone is bullshit. - Bret

Ignored facts still exist |
Anyone at that level of government knows that you don't get yourself into situations where you could be blackmailed or similarly susceptible. Imagine if the person with the pics went the route of blackmail --- "if you don't use your office to 'help me', then I'll release them." I know they're just human, but these are the people who have been elected to make decisions (laws) for every person in the country. This isn't the Harper Valley PTA, these people are near the highest level in our federal government. A little bit of judgement up front isn't too much to ask. .

That's accepting her and the media's narrative. The issue is not her infidelity and sleeping with multiple people, it's the fact she was sleeping with paid staff members - not just one. The House very clearly laid out rules, primarily based on the #metoo movement, that prohibits sleeping with staff. She was diddling several staff members. The obvious irony is that they thought the rule was to prevent straight white men from having affairs with staffers. Oopsie.
Agreed, but again those are not the only pictures out there. Several of the pictures that surfaced were ones that SHE had posted to porn/hookup sites looking for partners. “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams
