Sad to know they will be destroyed.

We toured the armory at New Scotland Yard. They had a very nice collection of shotguns that had been turned in they were getting ready to cut up. Made you want to cry.

Second picture, Two square stacks, this side of the stage on the right, look like HK G3's

Impressive seizure.

My understanding is that the European "deactivation" of weapons is different that what ATFE requires. Apparently more easily reversible.

The US news media needs to take note, THAT is the proper use of the words "cache" and "arsenal". Not three hunting rifles and a Davis 25ACP.

At BBC.com they have an article titled "Thousands of illegal weapons seized by Spanish police"

They have some walk through video of the weapons. Better pix.

Given what's in those photos, they very well may have used "shells" correctly to describe mortar or artillery ammunition.

Video with better photos at the above link.

Everything from bolt action Mausers to a couple different types of CETMEs to several flavors of belt fed MGs to artillery shells.

Nearly all of the weapons appear to be types used at one point or another by the Spanish armed forces. I think some folks in the Spanish military are gonna have some 'splaining to do...

I think you're referring to the piles of Browning M2 .50 cal MGs, in the bottom right of the first photo.

(They have the barrels removed.)

More (crappy) photos below. Shown in these photos are least one Mosin-Nagant rifle (which were used by the Soviet-backed Republican forces during the Spanish Civil War), a Soviet PPSh-41, two Beretta M38 SMGs, a couple Thompsons (a M1928A1 and a M1), several types of Spanish Mausers, and a bunch of CETME 58s.

Not in the least bit. Imagine what isis or some other nutcase and/or extremist group could have done with those weapons. One guy with a truck killed how many in Nice - imagine just ONE of those belt-fed weapons used on a crowd of innocent people at a mall, school, or festival.

While it is a shame they will be destroyed, thank GOD they were seized.
