Likely the laws in MO prohibit the modification of the plate in any way.
I have seen posts where people buy a spray the should cloak the plate from cameras but no way to validate that it does.
Interesting that Flocks statement is that Criminal Acts should never be a part of the process.
Flock says criminal acts should never be a part of the process....
Well neither should surveilling peoples movements and making the information available to anyone who subscribes to your database. There's that pesky 4th amendment of the US Constitution, lack of warrants issued to watch people.
If anyone is breaking the law it's FLOCK and other companies, let's get it taken down, and the others will follow.

Last time I looked, Florida Statute prohibits covering of any kind on license plate. Just glancing around in traffic, it appears that this law is seldom, if ever, enforced.

With my recent registration renewal the state included a statement that it is illegal to cover a license plate with anything, including a clear cover.
Presumably the state is determined to collect all the surveillance it can.

However the AI systems they use even recognize your car without a plate or even a partial plate.
Just got word that my town had elected to cancel its Flock contract. The same article, though, mentioned that “four other Flock camerss have an unknown operator," and two cameras just outside town “have an unknown operator and are made by PIPS Technology.”
Sounds like an opportunity for some more "investigative journalism,” no?

Good news for the citizens of your town, you can check cameras at https://deflock.org/, put in your zip code and zoom in, might find out where the other cameras are, they may be private owned I know Ho Depot and Lowes are known to put them up at their parking lots.
In CFL there are just over 1000 of these cameras in place today, and if the map can be believed the state of Florida has close to 10,000 of these in place, yeah you read that correctly, 10,000....

My apologies -- the lack of clarity is on me, for not quoting enough of the original article.
The article did mention two at Lowes -- those are in addition to the four unknowns.

Having looked up the article again this morning, I see another article stating that the county next door "is among the latest law enforcement organizations to end its agreement with Flock Safety. For them, this comes over a year before the contract expires. GCSO cites public concerns over privacy and data integrity involving automated license plate reader cameras (ALPR’s) as their reason for ending the deal."
Progress.

Isn't all of the stalking worth it if is just solves one crime? You guys are not focusing on what's really important here.

That worked back when cameras were reliant on flash, either regular or IR. The spray would reflect light back and wash out the plate. Similar to trying to take a photo of someone in a reflective vest.
However, new cameras are a lot better with using ambient light so it's not a guarantee that it will work, and it never worked during the day.

Check the parking lot at Lowes and Home Depot. What are their rules for data use and storage ?
