Around here with an air temperature of 76 degrees, if your vehicle is in the sun then the temperature inside it is going to be much hotter. Even with windows partially open.

Understood. They were in the back of the truck, topper keeping shade. Windows and back were completely open. There was a good breeze. Neither dog was even panting.

I’m sure most of yall notice the amount of times I post my dogs and how I feel about Jelly. There’s never been a time I’ve put her in danger or bad situation on purpose.

Yeah, Karens gonna be Karens.

I will say that I was happy to see a local cop checking on a pup left in the car with decently cracked windows (though not enough to pass a water bowl in, not that the dog seemed in distress). Not because the cops needed to be involved, but because they must not have too much else going on. That seems like a good sign.

Our crew rides around in the back of “the dog truck”, a 2011 four door taco with a shell. They used to ride around with the lid above the tailgate and the side windows open (they’re ranch dogs) but Mrs. slosig has gotten more cautious over time and now they’re only open, begging for pets, and fulfilling their role as official greeters when we’re parked. They have a water bowl near the tailgate and a gallon jug of water hanging on a chain right near it. Anyone who’s worried is welcome to give them more, but the Aussies are kissers and the blue Merle male is a sneak attack French kisser, so anyone who gripes about having his tongue halfway down their throat is just going to get laughed at.

In what state was the hotel located? I was born and raised in Chicago but have lived in the South most of my life.

IF the front desk person was telling the truth, that you did have dogs inside your car, and with windows rolled up, I'd say she may have justification, but dogs basically in the back of a pickup truck with completely open windows and slight wind on a sub-80s day, it's not even the same damn ballpark. What a retard. I've done similar with my yellow lab 20 years ago- back of my Tacoma with camper shell, rear latch window open in 75 degree temps, all afternoon, and in CA of all places, no one complained.

Sounds like not a problem then. Around here, though, there's a good chance someone would call the police because it can be such an immediate threat to dogs (or kids) if it was in the sun.

It isn't unusual to see dogs in a car with the engine running and A/C on if the owner is making a quick run into a store.

I guess I'm ignorant on the goings on down south.

Of course you are. You're a yankee. Big Grin (I'm from Georgia, btw Wink )

It's just some cultural poking across the Mason-Dixon; don't sweat it.

Well now. I have to say, I demand satisfaction.
Am I supposed to slap Otto w/ a white glove?
How does this work?

The dumbass at the desk didn’t know the true situation and reacted without proper knowledge.
It was all over a bunch of nothing.

She apologized profusely but also didn’t recognize when we called out the desk attendants lies.

“She said she didn’t know whose dogs they were”. 1 minute later, “she said she called your room first and no one answered”

“How did she call the room if she didn’t know whose dogs they were?”

Blank stare. She was nice but didn’t seem to grasp what I was trying to explain, that a desk attendant has no place calling out someone for breaking the law just because they are ignorant of the law. Not speaking to my wife that way.

I plan to leave a google review and email their corporate office.

J, I get why you are upset. I do. But sometimes you just are better off walking away shaking your head. This might just be one of them.
You got more important stuff to focus on. Just a thought.

I appreciate the concern ORC, to be honest I’m over it. Had my heart racing for a few minutes but even talking to the cops I was laughing at how ridiculous it was. It’s hard to get mad when it’s such a stupid situation. I just don’t want the lady calling cops on everyone for any reason. Cops did mention it wasn’t the first time they’ve been called for nonsense here.

Bottom line, I think I got nabbed by some northern dumbasses. Sorry northern folks, I've spent the better part of 42 years down south where a dog in an open truck bed is considered a happy dog. I know I'm generalizing but fuck me, who else complains about a dog being in 76 degree weather?

Huh? Please, go on. How do you jump to that?

Evidently, from what I am gathering on this thread, is that there is a theme emerging that people from the north don’t know crap about dogs and are whining Karen’s and all southerners are the equivalent of the dog whisperer…
