I leave the local high school football game tonight and I see a debit card lying on the ground. Since there are a thousand people there and I do not recognize the name, I figure I will take it and call Wells Fargo. So I call them, and despite trying to get through to lost or stolen cards, which has always prompted immediate connection when it has been my bank, it takes a transfer and a solid 5 minutes before I am speaking with the correct person. I explain that I found a card in a parking lot and I wanted to let them know. The lady lets me know there is nothing she can do and I can either return the card to a branch or cut it in half and throw it away. If it were me, and my card was lost, I sure would appreciate the peace of mind of a call from the bank saying something like, "We just got a report that someone found your card. Can you check and verify whether or not it is still in your possession?" But maybe that is expecting too much?

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
Yes that’s expecting a lot at Wells Fargo. They are by far the worst bank I’ve ever dealt with. They acquired my old bank after the 08 meltdown. I had many of the experiences they were known for including the line of credit scam that someone high up should have gone to jail for. As far as I know, no one got even a reprimand or lost their job. Also, terrible customer service on a daily basis. Since I had five different business and personal accounts there I didn’t want to change banks but it was my best move. Did I mention they are a terrible bank? ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Bank of America is the worst bank I ever dealt with, but I have never dealt with Wells Fargo. I have heard that Wells Fargo are just crooks from enough people that there might be something to it. I never BofA do anything crooked, but boy are they jerks.

Back when I was working, BofA was a client and calling them jerks is almost a compliment. Even when every one of their requests (demands) were met, they would treat our people like dirt. They were universally loathed. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

I was one of the folks that WF employees created a false account for some years back. They had a promotion for their workers that based raises or bonuses on how many accounts they had gotten. I asked to be removed from all their systems but to this day I randomly get email from them acting as if I am a customer. Not often any more but it still happens. They are as crooked as a snake. I have encountered the same from Sams. Apparently it is their procedure.

probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
Debit or credit cards, just cut them up if you find them. It is a waste of every ones time to try to return it or contact the owner. The bank just issues a new one after verifying there are no charges on it from the last time it was used by the owner. If some random guy contacts me telling me he found my card, I would think he's just angling to get some kind of reward.

Yeah, Wells Fargo is about as low as you will find for a bank. Wells bought a package of loans I had for construction equipment, just South of a million bucks, I repaid all the loans they bought but what a sack of assholes to deal with on a regular basis. Doesn't surprise me that they wouldn't have any regard for a customers credit card. You did the best you could BTW.

I guess I’m the odd man out, but I’ve banked exclusively with WF for ten-plus years and have been very happy with that bank. Folks at their major facilities and branches here in San Diego are generally courteous and helpful. And the WF app on my iPhone is excellent. My previous San Diego bank, also ten-plus years, was BofA. Good service there, too. I expect to be roasted for this report. Serious about crackers

Yes. Wells or any giant bank is atrocious. Facebook page specific to your small area ? Found a wallet in Walmart a while back. Posted a photo of the name on our town Facebook page and said I’m shopping at Wally and contact me on the next half hour or so. Somebody knew her and this person who’s wallet it was contacted me and we got the wallet reunited.

Not any roasting from me Pipe Smoker. My experience was just a little different, and will never deal with these clowns again.

Not a roast but a word of caution. Over the years, I've unfortunately been on several root cause failure analysis after something bad happens and one of the common findings can be paraphrased as "I had heard the warnings against doing it, but I've been doing it this way for years and it had never bit me in the ass before until..." Yes and no. Although Wells Fargo is crappy, my guess is that this is SOP with any bank.

I worked with these clowns for a while. I worked for Norwest many years before WF took over. In a very short time, things went to crap. I didn't last very long after the buyout and quit. I moved to a regional bank and lived happy ever after. I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings when I called you stupid - I thought you already knew - Unknown ................................... Search social media for the name on the card. Message the person or persons. Take debit card nearest local branch and leave it there. Take card to police. They can if they have resources alert owner. Why bash WF? ------- Trying to simplify my life...

Yeah, I don't get why you are bashing WF either. Any bank would have told you the same thing...and yeah, they are all jerks. Local HS football game, seems it would not be too hard to track down the owner, you have their name Or, just cut it up and pitch it. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

Can confirm, both Wells and BoA are barely legal criminal enterprises run by people that are bigger assholes than allowed entry to hell.
