What options are available that;

(1) Has on/off only.
(2) Uses CR123 batteries.

Something using 2 or 3 CR123 batteries with good bright light. Not too bright but not a dim candle either.

I have a nice enough Insight brand light but it has the strobe option which drives me crazy getting it turned on.

I just want a simple light that you press the button once to turn on and once to turn off. Don’t want high/low or strobes. Just a simple on/off.

Thanks in advance!

I've always liked the Inova X5. Mine must be 17 years old.

The Surefire LX2 Lumimax is the best light I have ever owned. It’s not the brightest, only putting out 200 lumens, but the beam pattern makes up for it. It’s low setting is 15 lumen so it’s bright enough to use, but not blinding.
If you can source an LX2, they’re about as good as they get IMHO.

If you can’t find one of those, the Streamlight PT2L. I have one of those and it’s a pretty damn good light for the money.

Well not cheap but the Elzetta Bravo with a simple on off switch. You will be hard pressed to find a tougher, simpler tactical light. A real 650 lumens for about an hour as well. Not a burst for 2 min and several hundred lumen drop but a real 600ish the whole time.

Simply one of the best lights available.

Other end of the spectrum is the Streamlight 1L/1AA. It will run on a single CR123 and can be set to high only. No other modes. It is inexpensive puts out 300ish lumens and will run on damn near any battery you can shove in it.

Foursevens Mini MK III. If it didn't have a magnet, I'd would have gotten one.

going to be hard pressed to find a single on off flashlight these days. May look at maglite. F2's recommendation of a FourSeven is a good one. They were one of the early on flashlight craze producers. I have one that is a dozen years or more and still works like the day I got it.

The Fenix PD32 would be a good choice. Takes 2 CR123's or 1 18650 rechargeable battery. It has multiple brightness settings but you can pick the one you want and it will always return to that setting thereafter. They are built to last and take punishment.

I do not know what your intended use of the flashlight is. But, I will tell you my suggestion does not meet any of your requirements.

But, for a EDC light, or a general purpose light, the Surefire Stiletto is awesome. It has a single on/off switch in the back, and on the side it has a multiple function switch that allows three settings of brightness. It is rechargeable, and the battery life for my use lasts a couple of weeks. The light is really simple to use, and no features to "drive you crazy". It carries easily in a front pocket and is the size of most pocket knives you'd commonly carry in a front pocket. (maybe a little bigger).

Awesome light.

My go to light is a Solarforce L2P. It takes P60 bulb modules so you can choose LED or incandescent or infrared, etc. This allows you to customize to your preference. For instance you can use a 6V single mode module and if you need more modes just change it out for a 3 mode 6 volt module.

I use 1x18650 but you can use 2 or 3 CR123A

Simple forward clicky tail switch.

Been happy with both NiteCore and OLight.

The magnetic snap rechargeable feature on the OLight is very convenient.
S2R Baton, M2R Warrior (If you want max brightness).

The P10, P10GT, P12 and the P12GT offerings are nice from NiteCore. GT versions providing a better, brighter light.

I give the edge to OLight for their USB magnetic charging and more compact size, using the same 18650 or (2) CR123a batteries.

Jim that one looks real close and the price is decent.

Still need to research some of the other recommendations given so far.

Keep the recommendations coming. Smile

DennisM I would very much like to give it a try if your sure about letting it go. I will get an email sent your way. Thanks very much!

Malkoff checks all of your boxes and is built in America and damn near indestructible.

The MD2 with M61 is a good all around light. Simple on off or if you want you can add a hi/lot switch activated by turning the head.

If you want you can call or email Gene and he can help with any questions you may have.

Not paid by them but the hand written thank you note from Cathy made me a customer for life.

THIS times a couple dozen of their lights that I use and carry.

IF you own any incandescent 2 OR 3- cell Surefire lights, the drop in from Malkoff would be the cheapest way to go. I have M61 in WARM and NEUTRAL and a few more tints in full power (200-450 Lumens depending on color) and also in Low and Low Low. If I had to pick ONE, probably the Low or low low versions because of runtime- OVER 10 HOURS on the Low Low and at 70 or so lumens depending on cool/neutral/warm tint!!!!

MALKOFF DEVICES give MANY options of TOUGH Lego type complete lights, heads, bodies and dropins to come up with whatever you need.

Forgot to say, email me if you have any questions as I have enough of a Malkoff addiction to warrant an Excel spreadsheet.....

Also, the G2X is a solid light - it MAY be too bright for some uses but that's very generous. Smile

Don't forget to consider reflector configuration and beam pattern. Two lights of equal lumen outputs can be very different in use based on the throw and the size/pattern of the spot and spill.
