got an email from my daughter at her job this morning with the pronoun horseshit and I told my wife I was going to call her and ask her how the hell she was raised. Good thing my wife informed me it was a new requirement of her employer before I lowered the lid on my daughter.

They only accomplish this because people go along with it, usually out of fear I imagine.

Fear of losing a job
Fear of not being hired
Fear of your friends shunning you
Fear of society shunning you
Fear of physical violence from said mental patients

Personally, I ignore the whole thing. If someone told me to address them by their pronouns I'd tell they to go fornicate themselves.

As a federal employee I've noticed a similar trend, although most of the emails that I've seen with the pronouns included are coming from folks in the DC area or people high up in the agency management hierarchy that appear to be directed to get on the "Inclusion and Diversity" band wagon. I wonder how they would feel if I put "Christian heterosexual" in parentheses. My guess is that the Inclusion and Diversity group wouldn't have a very inclusive opinion of how I identify, and they wouldn't think twice about the irony.
