In 1904, #14666, the first of the 150 hp J.I. Case steam engines was tested by being called upon to pull four 15 hp new engines (weight 57, 600 pounds) up the 13 percent grade at the rear of Case Company's engine assembly building in Racine, Wis.

Check out that guys other videos on his page. Some good ones there pouring casting for block, building crankshaft, mounting the 6,500# wheels, etc. He owns the company, but the old dudes helping with this seem like the kind of experience you'd need for a project like this.

They have utilized many 3D printed sand molds to produce castings for these projects. They would hand carve the rigging system for the sand gravity process. I know because during my undergraduate program I'd have to clean, package, and ship the printed parts. Note some of these molds were in the 60" x 48" size.
