Cilantro - in sandwich. Ugh.
I made steamed whole seabream w/ ginger, cilantro and scallions last night. Came out fantastic. But we had cilantro left over.

I bought some upscale deli ham to make sandwiches this weekend. My wife loves cilantro and asked me to add some. I usually prefer my ham sandwiches with mayo, mustard and a thick slice of sweet heirloom tomato. Maybe some cheese.

But I did as she asked. Blech. I like cilantro in certain things. Like the steamed fish. Like salsa. But now I know I don't like it in ham sandwiches....

I bet cilantro would do well on a cuban sandwich.

and on a bánh mì.

True. And maybe those Vietnamese sandwiches. I guess I just didn't care for it in the simple ham sandwich that I was anticipating.

I do like cucumber (peeled rind) in theses sandwiches. Crisp, moist, sweet.

I hear ya, I couldn’t stand it either for a while but now I have a shrimp dish that I absolutely love and it wouldn’t be the same without it. Sometimes I even crave it!? Razz

On a Torta de milanesa, yes.
On a ham sandwich, nuh uh.

I absolutely love cilantro but it needs to accompany the correct other ingredients in a recipe.
Nobody just eats cilantro by itself.

I am the same way, every time I eat it, I think I am Ralphie from the movie A Christmas Story, with the bar of soap in my mouth.

Dont know what the attraction is for this so called spice. I think of it as a weed which mexicans eat in the dessert on their way to our south west border. Horrible damn tasting what ever it is.

I can tolerate a bit of cilantro but really can do without it. My wife loves it, one of her favs is tom yam soup....which would be good if not for the cilantro Roll Eyes

Here I thought I was the only one who tasted soap when eating cilantro...... My wife seems to think I'm nuts when I tell her that.

To me it tastes like Dawn dish soap and Ivory bar soap mixed together.....

Interesting about the soap taste. For me it tastes like grass, and that taste stays in my mouth until the next day.

If it were in my power to instantly eliminate one plant from the Earth, it would be a tough decision between cilantro and poison ivy.
