Love those YJ8 wheels. I had a set of those on my 77 El Camino, got those at the time there was a factory restriction on ordering them on a new Vette. I had more than a couple Corvette owners try and talk me into selling them, this was late 78 through Spring of 79.

Oh yeah, I know all about the rear axles! I looked at one that needed the passenger side replaced. Not rebuilt but REPLACED.
`And Yeah, I night put the L82 camshaft in it!

For 45 yrs old that thing looks to be in great shape. Are the headlights vacuum powered?

Here’s your car w/o the wing…

I was in high school at the time. I bought a billboard sized poster and completely covered a wall with that exact car.

Never owned a C3, but did eventually get the midlife crisis C4. Fun car, but I’ve since gone even older school and tool around now in ‘65 Mustang.

Enjoy the car. You’ll be surprised how much it’ll be conversation piece. Seems everyone appreciates old cars.

Oh, the L-82 camshaft P/N was 3896962 when I got out of GM dealer parts in 2017. If it has been discontinued Melling would be a good bet that they have one to replace it.

VR1 in my Midget, recommended for the flat tappets. Easily available at most auto parts shops. Orielly was the cheapest around here.

Very nice, I prefer the C3, had a Silver 82, nothing like sitting down in one and looking over that long front end and two wheel well hump fenders.

When you repaint are you keeping the wing or going back to the original look. Wing would look good on a wall.... Corvette Neon Clock under it, Corvette only parking sign... Big Grin

My 1978 Mercedes had a vacuum powered locking system for the doors, trunk, and fuel filler. The vacuum system was prone to leaks.

The independent mechanic who maintained it for me, and I, would spend a lot of time and maybe sip a couple beers while trying to figure out where the vacuum goes when it leaks out of the system.

Yes the headlights are vacuum, they work and the servo cans look new!

I drove it home with my friend John(RX7 guy) and stomped it once.
It instantly shot forward and tacked to the red and I released the pedal!
I thought it would change gears before it went red!

The temp stayed at about 165-175F.
The oil pressure is terrific! Bob said it didn't puff a bit of smoke. Even when I romped on it.

Nice '78 Vette. I bought one in the two-tone years ago, although not as nice as yours and eventually made it look like the Turbo Vette. I had the same wing but added the turbo hood, front spoiler, side/ground effects, recessed/fixed headlights and bubble tail lights. I bought it years ago when I was in my late 20's and spent a lot of time fixing it up. After getting it all completed and painted my wife became pregnant and that was the end of that. One day I would like to get another. The C3 to me, is the ultimate looking Vette.

A ‘78 silver Anniversary! Nice except for the aftermarket wing. I would have to delete that. With such low miles! Not too easy to find now days. Congratulations, a fun car for sure.
