the last few days have been 'interesting' went to go shooting and was hunting for my suppressor couldn't find it - anywhere, and couldn't find the tax stamp that goes with it turned the place upside down, opening boxes, opening them again...shelf by shelf went through the garage, the storage shed... finally found it - took me 36 hours to find the damned thing so I guess I don't need to turn myself in and go to prison this week I was seriously worried when I opened the rifle case and it wasn't there... So, for future reference, want to share where you ultimately found your supressor? I'd rather not make the same mistake

I'm betting it was on the last place he looked. “I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”

when I moved, I wrapped it in a green foam bag (one that you would use for packing dishware) and put it in a small Pelican that was stuffed into a corner with a larger case in front of it now all I need to do is find the stamp [B] Against ALL enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC

With me it usually turns out to be in the "safe place I put it so that I won't lose it." D'OH!

In search of baseball, strippers, and guns |
My best friend lost a $3000 custom browning hi power sometime before Christmas. I say “sometime” because he couldn’t figure out where or when he last saw it He isn’t the most organized person in the world to start out with, and basically will come with a myriad of different guns in a myriad of different containers, shoot two of them and go home His best guess was one of the times he didn’t shoot it, it fell out or was left at the range, and grew feet He has filed a report, called his insurance, etc etc Every night since he realized it was gone I have looked on local and national sights and forums to see if it’s for sale Nothing Until last night When we were back at the range, he comes walking up to me with his pistol rug and gun It had been in his bag the whole time. Another pistol rug had basically rolled it down onto the floor of the central compartment in this bag, and he had never actually emptied out the whole bag. Just put his hand where it was supposed to be There will be an endless river of shit headed his way for a eternity We will be waiting for the bomb to drop and the last thing I will say to him is “SHAME! SHAAAAAAAAMMMMMMEEEE!!” —————————————————— If the meek will inherit the earth, what will happen to us tigers?

We just moved as well. I can't find a compact Beretta 92, been looking here and there for about a month. I thought maybe I stashed it somewhere in the new house for protection, no luck locating it. It will come to me, one day

I'm with Expert308, I don't know how many things I've "lost" after putting them in a "safe place so that I won't lose it." No suppressors, yet, but keys, optics, tools, etc. The only thing worse than getting older is the alternative.

don't feel bad I went to the BLM to go shooting (about 5 miles from my house) and left all my ammo at the house after humping rifles across the desert from my truck - about 1000 yards off the road some days, you just need a checklist [B] Against ALL enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC

That is not unusual. I remember a past thread about a Ruger left in a car trunk, that turned up someplace else.

Lost a Glock 30 like that once. I was putting guns in a new safe and could not find it to save my life. Eventually realized I tossed it in an ammo can while picky like packing up at the range months prior. It just came to me one day. A buddy lost an XD between the range and his house. Was certain enough somebody stole it while he was unloading in his parking lot that he reported it stolen. A year or so later he recovered it, from his range bag...

Go ahead punk, make my day |
I don't know how many times I've driven away from the range, just hit pavement (it's a dirt road to the range), then pulled over and done a physical check of all NFA items in the bags. Mind you I always do a complete walk around of my bench (multiple times, as I pick up brass) and there is nothing on the bench or ground when I leave. I put the weapons into the rifle / range bags and load them into the vehicle - I'm mentally inventorying / counting each bag and weapon. Even then, I usually stop 1/8 mile from the range when I get that thought "do you remember putting XYZ away", get out, and open the bags / touch every NFA item. I've never left something behind and I'm determined to never have that happen.

I write up a shopping list before going to the grocery store, so I won't forget anything. Then get to the store and realize I left the list sitting on the kitchen counter. I also use checklists for camping trips, road trips (even just across town) to matches, etc.

I've done that too. Left a gun in the case in my range bag and then go crazy searching the safe only to realize I forgot to unpack the gun after getting home. ---------------------------- Chuck Norris put the laughter in "manslaughter" Educating the youth of America, one declension at a time.

Ive wrapped a gun in a cloth to keep it from getting oil on other stuff and then set other stuff on it and ‘found it’ months later. Usually it’s when I’ve bought a new one into the house and have not moved it to the safe yet.

My best miss placement involved keys. The last hunting trip of the year I tossed my keys into my Sorel pac boots. Donned my gear and went into the woods to retrieve tree stands. After gathering three, returning them to the truck, I was pretty warm and decided I wouldn't need the pac boots. Hours later upon returning I could not find my keys. I crawled under the truck and retrieved the extra key. I knew I always left the keys so I wouldn't lose them in the woods tromping around. Fast forward 10 months, stick my foot into the boot and there they were, right where I left them. The felt liners deadened the jangling keys so well I forgot to check the toes. ----------The weather is here I wish you were beautiful----------

Pretty good about keeping track of my guns but not always so good when it comes to paperwork, including checks. Over the years I've misplaced checks worth thousands. Yeah...definitely not pretty good here.
