Well, yes. Having found it, there was no need to look anywhere else, right?

Mind you I always do a complete walk around of my bench (multiple times, as I pick up brass) and there is nothing on the bench or ground when I leave. I put the weapons into the rifle / range bags and load them into the vehicle - I'm mentally inventorying / counting each bag and weapon.

Even then, I usually stop 1/8 mile from the range when I get that thought "do you remember putting XYZ away", get out, and open the bags / touch every NFA item.

I've never left something behind and I'm determined to never have that happen.

Are you sure we weren’t separated at birth?
How many times do you check door locks at home before going to bed?

My biggest oopsie has been leaving safe unlocked all day and door swung wide open.
I about crapped my pants when I went into the basement and found it in that condition !

What a relief! I imagine the longer you looked, the more distressed/aggravated you became. That is how I get. Years ago I lost a Walther. I knew where I last saw it, but that was days before and it was not there now. Knowing how I sometimes do things absent mindedly, I figured I must have put it somewhere out of sight temporarily intending to put it in the safe later...I just didn't know where that place was. We still had two kids in elementary school. I was fairly confident they'd do what they had been taught if they found it, but that involved telling Mrs DF. Oh man, Mrs DF! Now I was panicked. She must not discover my indiscretion. What if she finds it? Oh man! For several hours I scoured the house pretending to be looking for my wallet. Ultimately I had to fess up to which SWMBO replied, "Oh, I put that in my bed side safe.

Oh right.....YOUR bed side safe....because I checked mine 83 times. I sheepishly retrieved my gun and put it away while she gave me the stink eye.

Maybe you stashed it your last house someplace only you would look but then you forgot about the location.....it will be an awesome new house find for someone. :-D

I have placed so many things in a "safe place" that I have never found. If and when I do find that spot it should be like Christmas to recover all my treasures!
