Here is my major issue with people who pull crap like this.

They assault you whether its a hit, an thrown object, a kick a chest bump whatever. They then believe that you can't hit them back due to
- their age
- them stepping back
- them putting their hands up
- them recording it

Age is no factor, a close friend in college was murdered by a 12 year old who stabbed him in the head with a screwdriver

Stepping back does not remove you as a threat, if anything it gives him intiative. If you're running away, different story. Hit me like that, you should be.

Putting your hands up does not negate you as a threat either. Many officers have learned this the hard way. Stating non-aggression doesn't negate the threat either as a) you're an idiot if you believe someone who just sucker punched you and b) we've seen examples at protests of them doing this and striking again.

Recording it also doesn't negate the threat in any way, it may embolden the attacker to strike again for better video if you're dumb enough to drop your guard.

This is exactly what reality looks like. The days of “being the bigger man” have created these violent assholes on the left. The days of insisting that we “have a conversation” about issues (which is a lecture from them) and we compromise to their desires (which means we give/they take) are over.

We all get the shooter was a white supremacist. we understand the Senator said something that might ruffle feathers. Doesn't matter. Kid had a camera, wanted a reaction. He got it. Just not on his terms.

I can't pretend to share any white supremacist's viewpoint, even if our views accidentally coincide- I'm a Jew, they hate me too, as do the muslims - my views are already biased. But that kid deserved what he got, and is lucky to walk away without a lot worse.
