This is not a hijack of the Irma-hysteria thread (plenty to discuss there), but rather where does the VI National Guard get the right to do this: http://dailycaller.com/2017/09...d-of-hurricane-irma/ =============================================== U.S. Virgin Islands Gov. Kenneth Mapp signed an emergency order allowing the seizure of private guns, ammunition, explosives and property the National Guard may need to respond to Hurricane Irma. Mapp signed the order Monday in preparation for Hurricane Irma. The order allows the Adjutant General of the Virgin Islands to seize private property they believe necessary to protect the islands, subject to approval by the territory’s Justice Department. Mapp issued an emergency declaration Tuesday and mobilized National Guard units to prepare for the massive storm. "No matter where you go - there you are"

They do not have one. As of early 2017, the territory still did not have its own constitution. Little has been achieved on this front since 2009 when a proposed constitution was contested by the U.S. Justice Department on the grounds that the powers sought exceeded what would be considered allowable under territorial status.

This is likely related to a military element performing police actions, per Title restrictions (i.e. Posse Comitatus), not door-to-door confiscations.

This won't be a concern to too many people. They are already very restrictive when it comes to gun rights already. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

I presume this is to negate the "You loot, we shoot" signs. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Yes, the USVI already has very restrictive gun laws. If you live there you should have a machete or two and know how to use them! _________________________ 2nd Amendment Defender The Second Amendment is not about hunting or sport shooting.

They're not just confiscating guns from American citizens but they're also taking any private property they believe necessary to protect the islands. The Virgin Islands are US territory but apparently the US Constitution does not apply there

I'm guessing I would have cold dead hands. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

Apparently, and sadly, it does not. It's a little banana republic owned by the US. _________________________ 2nd Amendment Defender The Second Amendment is not about hunting or sport shooting.
