I've been meaning to write a review of my new range bag for several weeks, and finally decided to put pen to paper (keyboard to forum?).

Earlier this year, I contacted Jack Markey at JaxPax Custom Tactical with the idea for an absolutely hilariously badly designed range bag idea. It was multi-leveled, multi-compartmented and could have almost have held 12131's entire SIG collection, with space to spare... Suffice to say that Jack was not impressed, and after some advice on his end we pared down the design to just the following:

  • 1-2 Handguns
  • ~300 Rounds of loose 9mm
  • 1 Suppressor
  • Ear Protection
  • Eye Protection
  • 2 Maglula loaders (.22 & 9mm)
  • A handful of Shoot'n'C targets

The final design was an 8 x 12 x 7 bag with one zippered compartment for the guns, and the final product was stunning. Some photos below, Jack uses 1000d Cordura, and the bag was well padded. One mistake on my part was to specify some slightly different YKK marine zippers that are flipped, I didn't realize they would be so shiny due to the waterproofing.

The workmanship is top notch, and I highly recommend Jack for any projects. This is not cheap, in the slightest... but it's worth it!

Range Bag, Exterior

Range Bag, Interior (1 zippered pouch for handguns, I added the mag holder)

Range Bag, Contents (Ammo box, Electronic ear pro in case, Eye pro in case, small case with earplugs/keys/etc)

I have no connection with Jack, other than paying him to do this bag, but I thought it would be best to share his work!

Thank you for that. I had no idea anyone would make such bags on a custom basis.
I have a salesman’s literature bag to carry about half of my stuff to the range, but it could be improved on, including being larger. That site could be more informative, though. Did you just contact him and describe what you wanted?

I did exactly that, an email describing roughly what I wanted, and then a couple sketches. He knows his stuff and designed the strap system that would work for this bag, but as long as he has the dimensions and clarity of internal/external pockets and webbing/MOLLE you should be good to go.
