Had LASIK 7 or 8 years ago resulting in chronic dry eye and starburst effect on lights, affecting my night driving, especially in the rain. I would not recommend it since you can't know beforehand who will be affected by these issues and who will not. And mine was done by probably the best eye surgeon in the major city in which I live (and I paid top dollar for the privilege). Had I to do it again, I'd stick with glasses (and I was pretty blind without them). | |||

Had it 14 years ago for nearsightedness and astigmatism. Still 20/15. At 44, I am close to needing readers, but expected that to happen. My wife had it a few years ago, and has had a similarly good result. But there are potential downsides. The technology is better than it was 10 years ago, and I think they can do a better job with the custom corrections and avoid the halo and starburst issues. Do it. Money well spent. I did Lasik on both and had one eye touched up with PRK about 10 years later. Healing time is faster with Lasik, but PRK damages less of your eye tissue to leave more room for further correction. Knowing what I know now, I would have probably done PRK the first go around. | |||

I noticed that my Opthalmologist was wearing eyeglasses while he suggested LASIK to me, and asked him why he didn’t get it done. His reply was that he needed perfect vision in his line of work. That told me all I needed to know. | |||

Had mine in 2006 or 7. LASIK is a wonderful procedure and a game changer if you're a good candidate. I had it done in 2000 and still love it. I've been very involved with LASIK since 1999 ( Optometrist here ). MDS | |||
