Thanks for the heads up. Everytime I pass by the GM in Woodbridge there was always just a handful of cars in the parking lot. I might stop by today to see whats for sale. Not expecting a lot though. If you want updates on which stores are closing etc. look at Marcus Lemonis' Twitter account and get it from the source. Greenwood and Avon Indiana aren't going out of business. "Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can't Lose."

I keep stopping by the store in Greenfield, In. checking out the prices. I have not seen anything discounted enough that would make me want to pull out my wallet. I know this is just heresay but one guy I talked to said they had even raised some prices on certain fishing equiptment before subtracting the sale percentage. I saw the email notification last night and called because I,ve been watching the price on a used P229 in .40 S&W. The girl I talked to said all firearms are still only 10%

There will be no deals on anything you would want to buy. The way these "going of business" sales work is the bankrupt company sells all their inventory to a liquidator who then runs the store. They typically raise the prices and will even bring in non-GM products to sell. Don't bother unless you want to buy things like neon green t-shirts or clearance shoes.

10% off scopes, binoculars, knives, etc. Signage posted prominently that there will be no discounting of firearms and ammunition at that store, nor will they honor prices posted in the latest circular. A couple of used SIGs caught my eye; particularly the used SP-2022 which was marked $100 more than I paid for mine two years ago new... 20% off some clothing. 10% off the snacks and orange circus peanuts up front. I think safes and cabinets were 10%. I got the two boxes of .38 Spl. which was my main focus, and left. Maybe after Mother's Day, prices will drop.

The guy behind the guy |
The only thing I buy at Gander are their Clearance shoes (can get some good deals) and their cargo pants. When their cargo pants are on sale they're like $25 and I like them very much. I prefer them to the tacticool pants like 5.11. I've actually found Gander's generic clothing brand to be fairly decent stuff at good prices when on sale. Other than those specific things, their prices are outrageous imo.

This. I went to GM a couple of weeks ago to check out a 5.11 bag. I went back there today to see if I could snag it at a nice discount. The 5.11 display was gone. The bulk of the store inventory seemed to be racks of clearance clothes. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

The family went today. Asked the Mrs to get me a set of Keen boots if they were marked down. She said there were no Keen or Merrill's. It was all Gander Mountain and other secondary type boots. She said the guy at the register said they weren't really going out of business, just clearing out old stock. Bullshit.

I went to the one near me today. Went to the gun area but so no X% off signs and didn't ask. Some clothes were 30% off. Fishing stuff was only 10-15% off their already higher prices. I bought 2 6-packs of worm hooks and saved a whopping 25 cents per pack over Wally World. The cashier said not all stores are actually closing, despite what the web page says.

The CEO of the buyer, Camping World, has run that company under the same business model as Gander Mountain, they are made for each other. Years ago Camping World was GREAT when the original owner ran things. Most learned Campers won't set foot in a Camping World the same as "gun people" won't set foot in a Gander Mountain store. This idiot should successfully run both companies into the ground.

Absurd. Swung by this afternoon. They had a new P250C listed at 499.99 and an SP2022 at 479.99. Same stupid prices. F*** Gouger Mountain. A well balanced breakfast being necessary to the start of a healthy day, the right of the people to keep and eat food shall not be infringed.

Would have to respectfully disagree with you. Stopped at the GM in Greensboro today, lots of original merchandise on sale. I love their long sleeve fishing shirts, normally $49 now $29. Already owned 2 and got 2 more on sale. Their brand is just as good as Columbia. Got a pair of the best outdoor pants made IMO, Wrangler Riggs rip stop for 20% off. I know the prices weren't inflated, cause I have looked at them in there before. "While not every Democrat is a horse thief, every horse thief is a Democrat." HORACE GREELEY

Made a trip to our closest one today. Saw a Kayak I had priced at Dunhams during the winter for $199 marked at $499 with 10% off Most shoes and boots were only 10% off. They told everyone back in firearms that there were no discounts on guns. I did buy one item, a MSR Dragonfly stove. Been looking at them at REI for a year or better and just couldn't spring for the $140 price plus antoher $20 for a fuel bottle. They had a half dozen marked $99 with 10% off. Paid $115 for the stove and fuel bottle including tax which was about 33% off the best price I've found. Other than that, nothing great deal wise. __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

Here is what I learned in the past few days. All 126 stores are closing, all inventory liquidated, all employees laid off. Employees were given little or no notice and limited information All guns and ammunition not sold at normal prices go back to manufacturers, therefore no liquidation or discounts NO WARRANTY on anything made by Gander Mountain. All sales final, no returns or exchanges. If it doesn't work, too bad so sad. If it is by another manufacturer (ie Moultree, Hummingbird, Carhart, etc.,) contact the manufacturer. Camping World bought the name, website, and some financial assets, hence the liquidation. Roughly 60-80 stores will re-open as Camping World/Gander Mountain or Gander Mountain by Camping World. Store openings will depend on deals made between Camping World and landlords. There is no specific close date for any store, when sufficient merchandise is depleted, the store will be close and the remainder sold to liquidators.
