I wanted one so badly I let the Yooper Gouger Mountain stroke me for one.
Still worth it.

Nah. No adapter needed. Works fine with single stack, be it Wilson 47Ds, P7M8 mags, Springer 9mm 1911 mags, or P220 mags. You just put the steel tongue on top of the rounds. It is possible to get it off sideways and have it not work, but it is also possible to just rock on with it. I never have used an adapter for any single stack magazine and I have never felt the need for one.

I look at it this way:

1.) I can hand load my magazines which will result in sore fingers, and a lot of time wasted loading mags, or

2.) I can use my UpLula and save my fingers and have a lot more time throwing lead down range.

Best gun accessory I ever purchased, too.

Yeah, I don't get the adapter thing, either. The original UpLuLa works just fine on single stack mags. I get it that it's a little loose, but it works just fine. I guess some folks just buy into the marketing thing. Wink

I bought one for my wife and my daughter since they naturally have much weaker hands. I’m old school - I load by hand and won’t use them. I figure loading by hand will build up strength and sore fingers aren’t a problem. If I ever take a handgun clas I’d probably use one.

I have LULAs for both pistol and AR. If you have a lot of pistol mags to load at the range, you won't do your best work when your fingers are fatigued.

Max, you say you won't use one. I'm just curious - why not?

I said the same thing, until I used my wife's. Have one in every range bag now. Big Grin

I have one double stack SIG, P228, and three single stacks, P239, P245, and P938. I got the single stack adapter when I ordered some other stuff from Greg Cote. It does stabilize the UpLULA and keep it lined up when loading single stack magazines.

I can certainly work without the adapter, but it's convenient. I guess I would categorize it as nice, but not necessary.

I bought one of the original ones years ago. One day at the range I overheard two shooters talking and one was asking what that little notch on the back side was for. I looked at mine and it had no such notch. It is for stripping rounds from a loaded mag. So I went home and ordered the updated version. I now have two, one I keep dedicated for single stacks with the SS adapter (I agree with V-Tail, it is not necessary but definitely adds some stability to the process for SS mags). I can load big fat .45 cartridges in a SS mag with my thumb, with no problem, but the 10mm SS mag is a bit smaller cartridge. They are all just so easy with the tool.

My second one has no adapter and is dedicated to the double/staggered stack mags. Great tool!

I've got two for 9mm-.45AUTO pistols, one I keep on my bench, the other for my range bag. Works pretty well for most of my .380s as well. Also I have one for AR, the Lula. The pistol ones I've owned for years, bought when they were about $15 less than what they sell for now. Absolutely the best damn device created for the gun world.

Until I saw this thread I had no idea what an UpLula was. Dangit Sigforum, now I need one!

What's the difference in a Magula vs UpLula? If I want to load 9mm and .45 ACP as my main 2, which model do I need??

You people suck, you know that? I was perfectly fine....

ETA: nevermind, looks like the Maglula company makes the Uplula, and the original one is what I will need. Sigh.

Looks like there's the regular UpLula for most pistol mags, with an optional spacer to help a little on some single stacks.

There is a toggle switch AR mag Lula

There is a StripLula that will slam a 10 rd strip into an AR mag.

There's a BabyLula for small caliber single stacks.

AND NOW THEY ARE COMING OUT WITH A 10/22 LOADER THE END OF 2018 !

I guess it saves on buying tons of magazines

Several SHOT Shows ago I was taking photos for a magazine I work for and met the Israeli inventor. He was one of the nicest persons I had met and gave me one of his newest versions (at that time): and UZI mag loader.
My 6th Maglula product that I picked up 3 weeks ago is for HK MP5 9mm magazines.

He is the J.M. Browning of magazine loaders.

I've got the standard black one and the grey one for .22's, which is a must for the CZ Kadet mags with the razor magazine lips.
