For the love of all that is sane, McCain did not start the goddamned fire on the USS Forestall, a rocket inadvertently fired from stray voltage off an F-4. Hang the man for his sins, Lord knows he has many, but stop damning a man for things he did not do. I worked F-4s and the issue with switching from external to internal, cycling the generators, often caused voltage drops and surges. And why ordnance pins, and tank pylon pins were not pulled until after cycling to internal electrical power. The Forestall event also required "stray voltage checks" on all carts and other jettison-able systems before arming (explosive carts).
