Bulldog is right, I wouldn't have said anything on here. I would have changed my location, that's about it.
It's probably going to be "back in da hood" or something to that effect.

Bulldog, I owe you a few beers for this one! Wink

Yes, gents my name is on that list. Not Sgt yet, I have a few weeks of school before I get those stripes.
I took time away from my family, my friends and things I like to do and I studied my butt off. The thing I'm most proud of is that I made it fair and square.
As Bulldog, Klusk and a few others on here with some strong Chicago connections can affirm, things here aren't always 100% legit. I'm just happy I was able to score well enough to get through a lot of that bullshit.

On a more serious note, and NOT THAT I DON'T APPRECIATE IT, because I seriously do! Instead of the "Congratulations" tossed my way, could you all (or all ya'all for my Southern Friends Wink ) toss some good thoughts, positive vibes and prayers this way to the Law Enforcement Community here and across our Nation.
It's been a rough start to the year across the board.
Here, specifically, we lost an Officer, a Dr and a Pharmacist in the Mercy Hospital shooting.
We lost 2 more Officers in a tragic train accident where the officers were chasing a gangbanger with a gun.
We lost a Illinois State Trooper a few days ago in a car accident.
All of those were in the line of duty. All in a very short time span.

Right before Christmas, the Dept lost a pretty damn good Lieutenant, and I lost a good friend and mentor to cancer.
I also found out a good friend, a retired Homicide Detective for many years was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Like I said, I truly do appreciate this, and I am deeply humbled. However, please throw those well wishes and prayers to the family and friends of those that didn't make it home.

Again, THANKS!
CPD SIG

That's awesome! Hard work is sweet when it pays off. I understand what you mean about 'earning it'.

So far I've only thought I was about to get demoted three times Big Grin It's an adventure, for sure!

This class is a small one. I think there's only about 40 or so in it. When I was made we had about 150 in ours. You go through Sgts. school which is 3-4 weeks. Then if you pass (not all do), there is a very nice ceremony at Navy Pier in which your family and friends can attend. Your name is called, you march up onto the stage where you shake hands with the Mayor (that's the bad part) and the Command Staff and your picture is taken. Then it's off to the ghetto somewhere.
