F-250 super crew, 8’box, Lariat trim level. Since I’m not on the hook for nonsense I’ll take the oil burner.
That big old truck is what I wish my F-150 was. I really value bullet proof in basic transportation. I went XL package ( utility truck ) with just a couple nods to comfort. I like many of the shiny things but “needeth not the hassle”.

signewtThe last 10 years I've been satisfied with Jeep JK models. 75000 on a used 2008 then 47000 on this 2015 bought new, zero days out of service.
My driving style has changed over the decades.
As rural resident it serves all my needs with or without attaching the Bantam ammo trailer for various chores.

Skins2881My daily driver is a Nissan NV2500 HD with the 350 under the hood. Electrical socks on it but it gets up and goes. If you decide to start driving a work van. I'd consider other options.
My weekend vehicle, which would be an excellent DD is a 2019 Fusion Sport. Fast as shit (best in class), comfortable, roomy, huge trunk, tech out the wazoo. Discontinued so you can get a $42k car for $31k. I absolutely LOVE mine. It does go through some gas though to feed all 325 of those hungry ponies.

flashguyI'm happy with my current 2006 Mustang GT, although I would prefer a somewhat peppier engine (it has a 4.6L V-8). My previous GT (1986) had the 5.0L V-8 and it was very nice.
If I could have what I wanted, it would be a vehicle with a big V-8 and unrestricted exhaust (no cat)--I want it to THUD (not roar); some muffling would be allowed, to tone down the highs. For a while I had a 1977 F-150 with a 460cid and custom dual exhausts--now that was my ideal! It was stolen from my workplace--bummer.

petrMy 2000 Ford F250 has been super reliable as a daily driver. We just picked up a 2012 Audi Q5. I am in love with this machine! Driving is fun again! 3.2L V-6 that has get up and go, handling is good, it's not an SQ5, but isn't tippy feeling. Of course, it isn't the Porsche 911 I will have some day...

Belgian BlueThe word "reliable" and German automobile shouldn't even be in the same paragraph. Germans can't build a reliable automobile.
I'd take a 2017 Toyota Camry, Corolla or Civic with a 5spd stick over ANYTHING German.
German cars are made for people who will get rid of them in 3yrs on a (f)lease or for people who enjoy tinkering around with their car continually.
I say the above with sincere regret, as I really love how German cars look, but common sense tells me they are an absolute waste of money. I LOVE 911s but sincerely doubt they would be as reliable as most popular Jap cars.

The point of the thread was not to pick a vehicle that is already solidly reliable.
It was if you could magically take a notoriously expensive maintenance hog magically reliable and inexpensive to maintain what would you drive.
Presuming you could actually afford the purchase of the car.

4MUL8RAfter renting a 2019 F150 for the weekend in Vegas, I think I could go for this form of vehicle as a DD. I loved how my tall frame fit in the cab, and there was still rear seat leg room for guests (or grandkids). I was pleased with the isolation from the road. I successfully maneuvered the Hoover Dam parking garage ramps without incident, even as large as the truck is. Maybe as I approach retirement I'll buy one.

bionic218With sticking with something a person could actually afford, I don't know what they're going for now, but a few years back a decent low miles Ferrari 308 could be had for around $30K.
Take out all the repairs and nit-picky wonky problems that carbureted exotics can have, and I'd be about that life. Magnum PI style. A manual - of course - in write me a ticket-red with the tan leather interior too!
I know they aren't super fast or high performance by today's standard, but there will always be an element of refinement and grace about them, at least to my eye.
