What daily driver (that you can actually afford) would you have if...
I've always wanted one of these as a daily.

I have that car but in Orient Blue. It is the best car I have ever owned. Perfect mix of power and comfort and handling.

Pics, how many miles, how long have you had it?

Well hell, I can't find the one picture I have of it. Give me some time today and I will look. 136K miles. I've had it since 2008. Bought it from a colleague in TX where they have this great insurance law: When you kid turns 15 and is eligible for a learners' permit, your insurer can automatically list them on the most expensive car you own and stick it to you for the increased premium even if they DON'T have a permit.

Now you know why he sold it to me.

Great car. Meanwhile, here's a couple of pix of the (L)635CSi to tide you over.

<EDIT> Sorry Black, I cannot find the picture anywhere. Damn!

Striker fired= Glock 9mm
If it's a .45= 1911
Suppressed= HK in .45
I like anything in 10mm

While I like my F150, I'd prefer to have a Lariat with bucket seats. My one complaint was the front bench seat in mine currently (but I wanted the 10 speed + 3.5 ecoboost so meh). The back seat is cavernous in these things too.

Probably stick with the same engine too. I like getting 19-20mpg in town in a full size truck.

I'm a deplorable.

Correction, an air-cooled Porsche 911, preferably like my 993. None of that water/coolant/anti-freeze BS. About as reliable as any car can come, without all of that ho-hum boring crap. As for the affordability factor; well-cared for examples with honest use are still affordable from a private seller, just like a now 20+ year-old car should be. Still over twice as much as they were a decade ago, but cheaper than many well-optioned fullsize SUVs. Low mileage 993s however are now treated and valued as if they're precious diamonds, gold and myrrh. Phooey.

I will say that the 3-axle Merc earlier in the thread is definitely cool, though...but unless I put up one of my properties for sale, it's well beyond my means.

Must be because of all those Volkswagen parts...

I don't know that I'd call a 993 affordable in the grand scheme of things haha. Being that you're obviously a 993 lover, here's a unicorn we did a clutch and full service on a few months ago. Factory speed yellow over full yellow interior, 3k original miles Eek It doesn't get much better as far as P cars go. It's part of a LARGE collection that includes a yellow LaFerrari, three 599's (aperta, GTO, and GTB), 458 Speciale, 430 Scuderia, etc. Im not sure what the 993tt-s is worth, I'd imagine it's one of the lowest mile ones in the world in a private collection. My guess would be north of $6-700,000? Hemmings has a speed yellow turbo-S for sale with 30k more miles for $400k.

My DD is a 2013 F-150 FX4. I couldn't imagine not having a pickup truck, and this one has been everything I could want.

Best of both worlds. While not a daily driver, we also have a 997.1 C4S.

I test drove a Honda RTL-T Ridgeline the other day and I have to say I was impressed. Very comfortable, drove like a touring sedan and versatile as hell. Honda reliable to boot. I think it would make a great daily driver. I'm not pulling the trigger on it because I'm happy with my 2011 Kia Sorento, but it will be on the short list when the time comes.

I have the same car, black, black interior with rosewood, custom luxury package.
160,000 miles NOT a single problem ever. Brakes, tires, change the oil. Never misses a beat.
My wife drives it and does not baby it at all.
She would kill me if I ever got rid of it.
People that have owned the same car have told me NOT to trade it on a new one, they did and regret it.

I worked with an engineer once that drove only used Lexus (lexi?),
usually 100K cars that were 5-10 yrs old,

he got them reasonable, rarely had to do anything to them, and when they finally had to be repaired they were traded or sold if the repair was too costly

my 355 is a great daily driver...

but putting a lot of miles on it for no reason merely speeds me along to the next major service at 15000 miles

I had an old 7 series here not long ago! 6 speed manual swap, supercharged, KW coiloves, CCW wheels, it was freakin' cool. Let me see if I can dig some pictures up.

I think I'd probably take an E39 M5 (that's the question right? What car can we afford, but probably not afford to keep running?)

::edit::

That is what I am talking about minus the wheels. I dislike chrome anything and don't like convex spokes. Still is a thing of beauty though.

And yes the questions is meant for a vehicle that you could actually afford to purchase today but could not afford to keep it running RELIABLY!! Meaning cross country trip in it.

How about a 1993 MB 500SEC?

A client imported this beast, then left it in my care for more than a year. I drove it from gas station to gas station. A very solid, smooth, heavy car... the door probably weighed as much as a Volvo!

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown
