I have never heard of 90% of the beers mentioned here. But I am sure they are all good , in their own right.

Any draft beer, thank you.

I like a lighter beer, not a fan of hoppy ales or stouts.
My go to is
- Amstel Light
- Sam Adams Light

How close are you to Staunton, VA? That's where Redbeard is located and it's the best brewery in the Shenandoah Valley IMO.

The brand, Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan, that Rogue and I posted about has been continuously brewing beer since 1040 which makes it the world’s longest running. Nearly every variety is consistently rated world class (their highest rating) by Beer Advocate. If you like wheat beer then you’ll likely love German hefeweizen (aka heffeweissbier), dunkelweizen (aka dark hefeweizen), or kristalweizen (aka filtered hefeweizen).

I have tried Va's own Blue Moon Belgium Wheat Ale, and have stopped at their brewery and ate some delicious fish tacos

I am a long way from Shenandoah ,Va, Lemur.

Our local grocery stores carry just a small selection of craft beers, and there are no stores that specialize in carrying those craft beers in my area. We do have some small upstart breweries in the nearby city, but I've not stopped at any of them .

Recently I bought a 6 pack of Country Club. Nothing like what it used to taste like 20 years ago.

That my friends, is about the epitome of my outreach in beer choices! LOL

God, this pic makes me want one. I haven't had one for ages.

A local store sells that. Pretty good. I liked it better than the Weihenstefaner

Franziskaner is very good, and when I lived in Alaska I drank it more then Weihenstephaner since it was half the price. IMO, Weihenstephaner was better but not twice the price better.

Also, I remain pleasantly surprised that Anheuser-Busch InBev hasn't ruined Franziskaner.

Rodenbach Grand Cru. I could drink that daily for the rest of my life if I wouldn’t go broke doing so.

Interesting. Around here, Weihenstephaner is only a couple bucks more per 6-pack than Franziskaner. I can get a 6-pack of Franziskaner for ~$9-$10, and a 6-pack of Weihenstephaner for ~$11-$12. (Weihenstephaner is also available in larger 500 ml bottles for ~$3-$4 each, which is my preference.)

Franziskaner's certainly good, but I think Weihenstephaner is better, and definitely worth the extra 33 cents or so per bottle.

I think Ayinger's Brau-Weisse is also a better Hefeweizen than Franziskaner's, but not quite as good as Weihenstephaner's.

Ah yes, a favorite of mine as well. Though I've only ever had it in France on draft.

And second only to Duvel, Delirium Tremens is a another favorite of mine. But again, expensive here in the states.

While we are on IPA's.

Can someone who really likes them tell me why?
Not a dig but personally, I like a balance of maltiness, cut with the bitter of hops. With IPA beer, all I get is the hops bitter, I can't really get any other tastes from it.

I like a decent bitters or Pale Ale, but the IPA is just too overpowering to me to get the other flavors.

Is this a different taste thing? or do people really like the hop bitter that much?

I can't pick one. Plus it changes with the seasons. And my tastes change over time.

Right now, St. Arnold's Octoberfest is a favorite.

Belgian ales are always a favorite style of mine. I love a good tripel, for example.

I haven't tried nearly enough to pick an absolute favorite, but my general purpose, "go-to" is Yuengling Traditional Lager. I got some light by mistake once and even it wasn't bad, unlike most lights which have little or no flavor.

I like the taste, but only when they are fresh. A brewery called Heavy Seas is local to Baltimore and they have a brew pub in the city. They have their IPA (loose cannon) tapped on kegs that are usually only a few days old. It tastes so much better than the bottled loose cannon in stores that have been sitting there for a month or two.

There is another local bar that has very fresh kegs of Dogfish head 60 minute IPA on tap and I can drink them as well.

The problem I have is that they are so filling. I can usually only drink two, maybe three with a meal.
