I’ll be 51 next week and I’ve been a basshead since I saw (or rather heard) my first serious SPL vehicle at a school dance in jr high.

Right now I have put together a system that can do over 140db on music and I love it. It’s a 2025 Ram 1500 with the factory Harmon Kardon stereo upgrade. Everything is stock except for the sub, of course.

After several revisions I have landed on what is pretty much perfect for me. I have 100 amp-hours of lithium supporting a Taramps Big Boss 8k wired to a single Sundown 12” Zv7 at .5 ohms in a custom Gately Audio ported enclosure. I’ve tried several different Sundown SALT series amps and they just can’t deliver like this cheap Taramps amp can, and I’m quite pleased.

So I was wondering if there were any other bassheads on the site.

I haven’t upgraded any recent cars but I love a good hard hitting tight bass for a home theater system. I stick with SVS.

Ever so briefly. Be more accurate to say friends were rather than myself. I was into the installation/electrical end of it more than anything.

Did more damage to my hearing in two years than 56 years of gunfire combined.

Having played bass guitar in my high school rock band I do tend to listen for the bass lines/notes/themes in music, but I'm not one to turn the bass knob all the way up (do they even have these any more on modern stereos?) As I age, the treble notes seem to have faded away a little bit, so it's probably the opposite. I am planning (someday) to integrate a subwoofer into my car's audio system, but I have a whole lot of other stuff to do first (new head end, amps, door speakers, headrest speakers, etc.) Since it was mentioned in previous posts, I'll state that IMO good bass is tight rather than boomey.

I imagine one would have tinnitus in their future with such a system!

They make an amp/bass speaker upgrade for the Golf Cart, it's on the list of things I'd like to do, and it would be nice to have some bass vs the single soundbar which has decent sound, for a golf cart.

You should see the speaker setups for Harley baggers, you can drop serious money to get a top of the line system where the two saddlebags have powers subs that are in enclosures that slide in. They have better sound than most home systems. Cost a ton...

I must admit that, with it being Springtime in Texas, my first thought was this was a thread for fishing.

I see you’re in Milwaukee - I grew up there; Mom and brother still are. I went to King and Washington, class of ‘94. And yes, I’m also a grey-haired basshead! Big Grin
