Since it came up in the thread. The tails are noticeably different.

I've never had a crow bother with my sunflower or suet feeders. I guess between roadkill and the grubs in my lawn they're not that desperate.

I give my crows raw or roasted, unsalted peanuts.

I let them see me put them out.

I also give them leftover pizza.

They have gotten to the point they call me out for treats now when they see the pizza delivery guy.

So this happens every morning.

We put out peanuts in shell unsalted and a bird seed mix for the squirrels and birds on a feeder I made.
Squirrels scarf up the peanuts and wait for more even taking them from my wife's hand.
The birds scarf up the bird mix but the Blue Jays LOVE peanuts.

We put out some unshelled raw peanuts for the squirrels and all they did was take them and bury them. I don't think they ate a single one. I guess this group of tree rats weren't the smartest.

We live in a heavily wooded area. Not the country but good sized lots with a lot of native trees, mostly oaks. Squirrels everywhere. I usually see several each day dead on the street. No matter what sort of feeder I put out, if it's got premium feed in it, they find a way to empty it in a day. I went to Safflower seeds and it did keep squirrels away for a couple of years. Not the very favorite of the song birds but they eat it. Suddenly this year's crop of squirrels have developed a liking to safflower and although they don't empty it in a day, they hang on the feeders and munch away. I chase them out but it's a losing battle. I'm going to have to break out the box trap and get rid of (take them down the road) these little bastards.

Look at the bright side-in 50 years the neighborhood will have lots of peanut trees providing shade and nutritious nuts.

I had a pet crow when I was about 15. We built him a pen about 5' by 3' by 4' high. His wing was clipped the first year so he wouldn't go too far. He did go about 30 feet up a pine tree and couldn't figure how to get down so I had to climb up and bring him down.

He would eat any let over dinner scraps. There was also sun flower seed and chick cracked corn.

He would see me walking home from school and raise a fuss. He wasn't afraid of cats and would run them off at times.

The third year he disappeared and was later found under a neighbors boat. We assumed that a cat had killed him.
