After borrowing my dad's 2012 Denali XL for 2 weeks for our Florida trip, I got a bit spoiled with the ride & comfort (and the near triple power figures over my Malibu).
Has me considering one to replace my 10 yr old Malibu.

We've got some road trips in our future (AR, CA, NV, FL all being possibilities, or already scheduled) and having a great highway yacht would be great.

Particularly looking at 2016+ Yukon XL Denali with <100k on them, but have read a few comments in my searching about trans issues with the 8AT.
Found a couple local to me (N Houston) but want to do any background checking prior to actually visiting any dealers.

Also, does anyone know how to tell if a 2016 has Android Auto? Seems it was a mid-year addition.
The 2016 I found was built in 7/2016, unfortunately it also has the SEW option 22" wheels. Much prefer the NZG 20" standard wheels.

Edit: Anyone have a link to pull the Monroney or build sheet based on a VIN.
I used to have a link for Ford lookup, but not sure if GM has the same.

Shocks will need replaced at 100k or less & are expensive on the denali models. That's why you will find quite a few for sale.

Thanks for the quick response.
My dad ran into similar on his (now 140k) 2012, different setup on those & he swapped it all out for Chevrolet Z71 components to eliminate the magnaride & gave him more options for airbags in the rear.

My 2018 Yukon Denali(not XL) has about 75,000 miles. Not a single problem with anything.

That's good to know.
Only real difference between the 2 is the 14" stretch.

How is the phone integration? Loved Android Auto in my F150. My Malibu only does calls & does a poor job at music via USB flash drive.

I'd say it's pretty good on the phone, kind of sketchy on the Bluetooth streaming. Not that it loses connection, but you really end up jumping back and forth between phone and vehicle controls.

I haven't ridden in one of the latest (2022+) generation. I'm hoping they've improved by the time I'm ready for something new.

I will start off by saying we own a fully loaded 2015 Suburban LTZ. Essentially the Denali with the smaller motor. Bought with 55k and now have 85k

STAY FAR AWAY!!!! This is the most problematic vehicle I have ever owned!!!!

I had to have the fronts replaced under warranty at 58k miles. I just did the rears at 70k miles
Arnott makes a replacement unit that retains all the factory sensors and leveling. They are way cheaper than OEM and a far better riding product.
Fortunately they are super easy to install.

A/C Condenser is also a known issue.
Water pump is a known issue
Oil Pan gasket is a known issue

I have replaced all of this. I have replaced a bunch more as well just don’t have my binder in front of me.

I have replaced 3 seat heater units
This is the loudest drivetrain I have come across. I swapped from 0w-20 to 5w-30 and it has helped quiet it down.
I change the transfer case fluid every 10k miles or it sounds like it is going to explode.

When RUNNING these rigs are very nice to drive and ride in and great looking trucks. However it has been super problematic.
I would find yourself a Navigator L of the same vintage instead.
I had a 2015 Expedition that I traded for my Tundra. I would much rather have the Expedition/Navigator than the GM.

As for your answer about Android Auto. You need the build that includes radio code I05. This should be listed on a sticker in the glove box.
The I04 units are the same just no AA compatibility.

Sounds like you won the bad truck lottery. I don't think I've replaced that many things combined on all the vehicles I've owned in my adult life.

I know on the Yukon, 2015 was a transition year & they had a lot of mid-year updates.
The one I found is a 2016, so one would hope those would be resolved. It's also a RWD so no tfr box to worry about.

Only recurring issue I've found from the few GM forums I can find is to do with the 8AT & the hygroscopic fluid put in on assembly.

3 Tahoes in our parking lot at the office, 2 LT & 1 RST. no major issues I'm aware of on theirs.

You actually won the good luck lottery.

The in-laws had a 17 that had to replace all the same except for the seat heaters.
The two other folks I know with them had to do the A/C condenser.

And our fellow forum member ChuckFinley had plenty of problems with his GM trucks as well.

Take a look at the Expedition/Navigators of the same vintage before you fully decide.

We have a 2021 Expedition for our company pool car (replacing a tired 2014)
It's nice, for sure, but not a big fan of the styling.

I have a '15 Yukon Texas Edition but it's a 4x4 5.3L.

Biggest issues on these trucks, imo, are:
1. torque converter (which leads to transmission rebuild)
2. seat heater elements
3. tail lights

Mine might could use shocks... I don't know as I didn't own it new and I've never been a real ride snob, having driven nothing but trucks my whole life.

Chevy's in the time period stated, as Black said, IMHO as well, are unenjoyable, unreliable, excrement. Very happy to have closed the door on those.

I just changed the air shocks on my 2010 Tahoe. Easy peasy.

I just wish I could find a replacement lumbar module for my drivers seat...

Yes, in 2018 they softened the looks up quite a bit and not for the better.
The 2015-2017 look great.

If you do go with the Yukon you absolutely need to disable the Active Fuel Managment!!!!

Unsure of specifics, but my wife's 2016 Yukon had to have the transmission replaced. Guy who did it says he does at least one every week on the Yukon/Tahoes with that vintage of transmissions. He claims it is a known issue that should have long ago had a recall.
