We have two Beagles. We had two birds; but our Cockatiel Rocky died about two months ago. We got him in 1989 so he lived a good life. We now have just a Senegal Parrot, who is a great bird. But no more birds, I'm getting older and don't want one to outlive me.

We had a cat until last year when he died of cancer. He was around 13 (a rescue, so we were never sure exactly how old). So no more cats. My wife wants one but I've been resisting.

A few days ago I was cleaning the window sills and saw a strange cat walk up our sidewalk, right to the window, and meow at me. I called my wife and we checked the cat; no collar, not declawed, not neutered (clearly a male) Smile , so she took him to our vet to see if he was chipped. Nope, no chip.

We made "found" posters and posted it at our vet, left a note on Facebook and pasted them on our community mail boxes.

I really don't want another cat... but I think I just got one.

Here's Charley.

It's amazing how often that seems to happen.

Hey, at least he asked to come in. I've read stories of people that came home or got up in the morning to find a cat had already moved in!

Congratulations! Looks like y'all have a new family member Smile

It was a little strange because my wife asked me that very morning if we could go to the pound and look for a cat. I whined about cleaning the cat litter box, getting the cat acclimated to having dogs around and making sure the bird was safe.

Then this cat wanders up the driveway.

Either someone is trying to tell me something, or my wife spent a buttload of time training a cat to walk up our sidewalk meowing.

Regardless, I can't bring myself to take it to a pound, and my wife is VERY happy.

It's apparently my lot in life to care for rescued animals - worse things could happen I guess. Smile

Thanks. She named it about 30 minutes after it showed up, so I knew at that point how things would probably unfold.

Charley looks a lot like our cat who picked us. While my wife was doing dishes he popped out of some plants and ran across the yard meowing (she swears he was saying “MOM!”). It’s funny how sometimes it just takes them a little while to find their families. Congrats!

Thanks, all. Ya, he was definitely not a barn cat. He's just too friendly. He's awful skinny so I think he's been outdoors for at least several days. He eats like a pig.

And so it begins...

This cat picked me, I have always been a dog person. one day it came running up our driveway hungry, I fed it some deli turkey because that's all we had, been here ever since really part of the family.

We have always been dog people, didn't dislike cats, but never wanted one. We have two, each found us, great pets for old people. Lost our Flatcoat Retriever couple months ago at 13 1/2, too old to start another one. (Sez the wife) Dogs are great, but cats are a lot easier to take care of. You did well. The ones we salvage are grateful, and show it.

I currently have two dogs, a cat and a bird... I think I just ended up with another Kitten unless I can find a home for him.

Four week old little baby. Heard him meowing outside under my bedroom window on Friday. Took him to the vet seems perfectly healthy at this point. Got his first chunk of shots and stuff too. Trying to find him a home but in the mean time man is he cute Big Grin

Not usually, bendable. If they are neutered, healthy, and no conflicts with other pets, they're pretty mellow.

There used to be a large, No-Kill shelter in Princeton, if you're not too far and want to check one out.
