Well, if I don’t do drugs none of my tax money should be used on Narcan or intervention programs. See how that works? Now if you want to discuss your tax money following your schooling choices I’m in. The property tax argument is hobbled by the fact that society benefits from having an educated populace. Of course our public school system falls short at this point but it could be fixed.

What makes you guys believe that renters don't pay property taxes? Do you really believe that an increase in property taxes won't drive up the cost of rents? While true in the short term that rents are what the market will bear, the tax burden is an important consideration when deciding whether a housing project will be profitable. Eventually, the rents will reflect all costs, including taxation. Landlords don't incur the risk and hassle of renting properties for fun. Believing that renters don't pay property taxes is like believing that consumers don't bear the corporate tax burden. The ultimate payer of all costs is the consumer of the good or service, including the tax burden for rental space. Well I don’t disagree with you guys but it’s like you live in a fantasy world. You don’t own real estate property outright in this country. We have to work within the system. I don’t see the path that gets us to not paying taxes on property. You figure that one out and I’m on your side. As for the narcan comment it was directed at the “I don’t have kids and should’t pay for schools guys”. I don’t do any drugs and don’t feel the need to pay for any social intervention programs to fix addicts of any kind. Say that in this forum enough and listen to all the capitalists turning socialist instantly. I’ve worked continually since I was 16. Not a dime of my money should go to pay people who aren’t willing to work. We can play this game all day and best that we can hope for is to spend those tax dollars as wisely as possible. Hard to do with current political climate.

But if the owner doesn't pay property tax, the land will be seized, then the gov't will be your landlord. And often the gov't doesn't have to follow the same laws imposed on non-gov't landlords. Cupertino is right next door, since most of the students in this school are from Chinese/Asian households, that network down in the Valley esp around Sunnyvale, Santa Clara and Milpitas is pretty tight and they all talk.

I don't know your age. All the $$ I put into social security was paid out to my parent's generation. All the $$ I get from social security comes from my kids generation. So maybe an option. Cut your property tax by the amount the gov't pays for schools, and forfeit any social security benefits. "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. As I read your comment, as a renter, your property can't be seized re failure to pay property tax. However, if the landlord doesn't pay property tax on your apartment/condo, the gov't could seize the property, and you could be kicked out. It has happened. WTF does the property being seized have to do with whether tax costs are passed along to the renter?
We were having a discussion, and I said nothing that should elicit this response. Why are you such a prick? You should go back to not posting. Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus

Cool. Nice robust argument. Life doesn’t care that you think when you buy land you own it without owing anyone another dime. You and reality aren’t seeing eye to eye on this. You think it should be different, ok. It isn’t. You pay taxes year after year and when you stop you lose your land. It’s the system you live in. As for the I don’t have kids crowd, who cares. My point was I don’t do drugs or have addictions and I pay for that stuff as do you. I work for a living but I write the checks for those that don’t. As do you. The best that can be hoped for is that the taxes are distributed in some manner that makes society better. Whether it’s money for public school, addiction programs, unemployment benefits etc. I can only hope these programs help and dont make the problem worse. In a nutshell, I’m saying it doesn’t matter if someone has no children. Paying for schools is just another social program baked into the cake. I’m not following your rant about renters and property rights. As for SS, I’ve been hearing about the untimely demise of SS benefits for at least 30 years and so far nothing has happened. If we can pump approaching 10 trillion dollars into covid stimulus I somehow think paying SS benefits isn’t the wild uphill ride we all think it is. Like the guy above said, it’s a pyramid scheme. As are most state pensions systems. I would bet the guys in their 40’s still get their benefits. And people will still be saying the next group is the one that won’t.

Oh you are one of those crazy militia types that think you bought the land and never owe any taxes ever again. Got it. I hope that delirium works out well for you. Back to reality. I especially liked the part about taxation only being allowable because I think it’s ok. Yup, I’m the idiot in this conversation. Feel free to rant about your ideal world without my contribution. This will be my last post to you regardless of the crazy you are about to unleash.

Victim mentality in the Bay Area. Not surprised, I grew up out there. It’s sad how far that beautiful area has fallen.

You are exactly right. They are playing the Marxist playbook, but they substituted race for class. Jordan Peterson recommends don't even step into the room with one of these critical race theory classes. By doing so you agree to the premise that you are racist. Even by doing so you'll never satisfy them in the end. _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray!

In college faculty training in the Bay Area, there was a poster on the wall "Victims don't need to prove their victimization, we take their claims at face value". In one of the training classes, we were taught that all white males are guilty of microaggression (prejudice against women and minorities), even if they don't know it or intend it. And as part of the College Pres' seminar for faculty/staff, it is more important for students to get political clout while in college than it is for them to get marketable skills. And in a breakout session to address diversity, everyone in the session, by name, was assigned to a "diversity" group, so each group had a mix of every designated minority. One minority group refused to "diversity", to mix with others. They were allowed to do so. "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women.
