Here's a map of the voting results from 2016's presidential election:

I think it is possible that there could be a shift in California politics. Slim chance? Maybe, but I know that when Reagan got elected as governor of this state, Californians reacted to that election the way they did to the 2016 election. Nonetheless, Reagan performed miracles in this state during his 2-term reign.

I'm just not counting California completely out just yet.

Santa Clarita is my hometown, its probably the most conservative area in LA County. Very pro business, and votes republican. Our main concern is we have idiot liberals moving up here from the valley/city and bringing their bullshit with them. The screw up thier own neighborhoods and like a plague they move into conservative “nice areas”, only to ruin that one. In 20-30 years Santa Clarita will be overrun by Valley trash. The only advantage we have in stopping that right now is outragously high real estate prices. Once they start building more low income housing, were finished.

I think the Bay Area in that map should be colored a permanent deep dark dank blue

That's about the stupidiest shit I've read on the internet today.

I will fold my business that's taken years to establish, I will leave other family behind, my family will leave all it's worked hard to achieve just because you think it's best.

If moving puts me one inch closer to you and your whacked living guidelines for the rest of us I think I'll instead move closer to to the ocean.

If the "good people" (such as you, I think) don't want to leave, then they should be working very hard to take the state back from the trash that is running it now.

I'm sure they are, but they're severely outnumbered. I don't think ANY state should be smug about its' future, and I sure think we shouldn't remind the good folks of their plight, as they live there.

I pray that you are lucky and do have a swing there in response to the idiocracy going on there. Normal people can't possibly agree with some of the shit coming out of Sacramento.

By the way how the hell do you get only the blue parts to fall into the ocean? What about those trapped behind enemy lines?

A couple of thoughts.

Public schools in CA are brainwashing centers, maybe a tacit proof that Goebbels lives.

And the Primary elections will be here soon, the Dem advertising is in full swing. Not only does Goebbels live, but so do Lenin and Marx.

Surprised my county shows up blue, but I'm sure it's very close. I definitely don't think the state is completely lost even if the liberal idiots make the most waves in the liberal media. There are some folks here that are left leaners waiting to be convinced to lean right. There are plenty that blindly lean left, but I'm in a blue county and I honestly feel I encounter mostly red folks. Some of the blue folks I meet or know aren't just blind lemmings for the liberal party, but they need some talking to and convincing. There have been some I talk to and see reason for my right leaning ways, there's just more leftist shit thrown at them. We need the right leaners to stay strong and vocal to try to turn some of these actually purple folk. Some of them are just stuck up on minor social "rights" foregoing everything else.

Problem is, the governor is very nearly a figurehead position. Both state legislative houses have continued to strip away the power of the governor's office over the last 30-years, blunting any change that a GOP governor wishes to undertake. The Dems have near super majorities in both houses, with more conservatives 'escaping' instead of standing up and fighting, the gulf continues to widen. The counties along the central coast used to be solidly centrist if not red, same with San Diego, the Central Valley and Inland Empire, today the last 30-years have them turned blue and growing.

This historical chart shows the changes of all the elected state positions, note the last 20-years.

Yet that's what some people and businesses are doing.

Not that I don't understand your position, because I do. I've lived in other parts of the country. Stayed a significant time in others. Even in a couple other parts of the world. I like my home state. And if it started going the direction California's gone, or NY or Illinois or Connecticut or New Jersey or or or... I dunno what I'd do [**].

Conversely: I don't regard the states listed above as being part of the United States of America, except in name, any more. Their governments' policies, the governments the majorities of their voters have put there, do not reflect what I believe to be the spirit in which the USA was formed.

[**] Probably move to Europe, truth be known. If I'm going to live under unfettered socialism, I'd at least like to be somewhere they get it right... and have good broadband access at reasonable prices Wink

I lived in California a long time ago and found it magical in it's beauty.

I trained like a maniac at Fort Ord near Monterey, California as a hard charging soldier on the tip end of the spear. Yeah, I was infantry and more...

I used to love going into Carmel on the few times I was set free from training and loved it. The coast is awesome in it's beauty.

Sadly, California and other places like Massachusetts (another beautiful state) is slowly being ruined by ruinous communist politics.

Yeah, you can call them socialist, progressive, etc., but the fact is they're all commie to the core...

I hope you love those tent cities filled with drug addled, crap on the sidewalk types...enjoy, more coming your way.

A few years ago, I wanted to and was going to take my wife on a tour of the coast of California to see it's beauty. No longer. I won't spend any of my money on something akin to Venezuela in the making.

So-called liberals (commies) have ruined this fine state and I won't contribute one cent to help their economy to bolster their idiotic welfare state economy.

I hope some of the political commie class have spotted the fact that Americans, (not illegal aliens) are leaving this state at an alarming rate to get away from their politicians hideous abrogating of the U.S. Constitution in favor of illegal aliens.

Pols like pelsosi recently declared...dems, once back in power will raise taxes. What a dumbo. Does she really think such statements will win her party votes...?

Raise taxes for what. Drugged out tent folk who crap on the sidewalk?

Aw, those poor folk should be given room to pitch their tents on her lawn...with the same result as Rosie O'Donnell when it happened to her. You guessed it. Armed guards rousted those bums off her property pronto. But, ya know, both are for gun control, unless it pertains to their armed goons./.

I have already counted CA out completely.

There is NO WAY that CA will ever be red again. Ever. The fix is already in place, the commies have worked on this for years. Hillary won CA over Trump by a margin of 2:1. FYI, Orange County, historically a conservative county for eons, voted for Hillary, the first time for a Democrat in nearly a hundred years.

Your new governor WILL be Gavin Newsom, and Jerry Brown will look like Ronald Reagan compared to that leftist jackass.
