On March 13th, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order that will make the Federal government more efficient, effective, and accountable to you, the American people.
This Executive Order directs the Director of the Office of Management and Budget to present the President with a plan that recommends ways to reorganize the executive branch and eliminate unnecessary agencies.
President Trump wants to hear your ideas and suggestions on how the government can be better organized to work for the American people.

My first thought too. What a monumental waste of taxpayer $$.

FBI, CIA, NSA, need to be all combined into one agency. If not that combo cool, but some agencies should be combined and at least try to make them more efficient. Our government is massive, and they aren't all on the hill.
Entire thing needs to shrink as it is not sustainable. That means cuts everywhere. Military, a butter knife cut, other agencies like the IRS, need a samurai sword. We need to be able to pay our own bills and not borrow billions and trillions. Only way that happens is if everything is on the table.

Why stop with DOE? Let's close the public schools and start with another way of educating our children.
Let the state give vouchers for a sum it is willing spend, good at any organization providing instruction. Let parents decide.
Seldom has so much been spent for so little result. Nrarly anything would be more effective.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

We do NOT need inspectors looking over our shoulder, nitpicking alleged infractions in order to justify their salaries which we shouldn't be paying in the first place.

I'll add yet another in what I am sure would be a long line of +1's for DoEd. Read an article a while back that looked at the data, and the US has declined in where we stand vs the rest of the world in education every year since the formation of DoEd. It was founded by Carter as a sop to the teacher's unions that got him elected. Education is NOT a federal issue anyway. And all it ever was from the get go was a means of funneling money to DhimocRATS.
I'd put the Commerce Department right after it. As well as DoE. The entire reason given for starting DoE was to make the US more energy independent. It's done nothing of the sort. Labor Dept as well.

This is like asking which quill of the porcupine needs to be pulled first. I will add to those already mentioned the Department of Agriculture.
We have to write them a check every year for a food handlers license even though we do not handle any food. They are supposed to inspect our warehouse annually but haven't seen anyone in years but we always receive notice to renew our license.
